Duties

  • Manage Minerals and Lands Programs including Lands, Fluid Minerals, Solid Minerals, Paleological and Haz-Mat.
  • Supervise direct reports.
  • Resolve complex program issues.
  • Coordinate as needed with local government representatives and represent BLM on relevant issues at the appropriate level.
  • Oversee team efforts including NEPA and permitting and inspection efforts.
  • Resolve highly complex environmental issues involving a dynamic and high profile set of multiple use issues.
  • Manage staff and vacancies consistent with all merit system principles.

  • Supervisory Probationary Period: If you are selected for this position, you will be required to serve a one year supervisory/managerial probationary period if one has not previously been completed.
  • If selected for this position, you will be required to annually complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450 within 30 days of reporting to duty. You will be required to provide this information annually.
  • May require a one year probationary period.

Qualifications

You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples:
  • Oil and Gas Program Experience
  • Inspection and Enforcement (I&E) Program Experience
  • Oil and Gas Program Regulation Implementation and Interpretation Experience
  • Oil and Gas Well Drilling Regulatory Oversight or Inspection Experience
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

Physical Demands: Work is primarily in an office setting. There is frequent travel to field sites via four wheel drive vehicles, and other vehicles. There is a potential for adverse climatic conditions. Field work involves walking, bending and climbing on steep and rough terrain

Work Environment: Most work is in an office setting. Field sites involve exposure to adverse weather, i.e., rain, snow, cold and/or heat. Some outdoor work requires special safety precautions. Incumbent will adhere to all safety rules and regulations as prescribed in manuals/supplements or by the designated Safety Officer.
