This is an exciting new position for the University. Join us, bring your energy, knowledge and experience, be part of a caring and creative organization, and work in an atmosphere that inspires!

Royal Roads University is committed to being a leader for the sustainable stewardship of the historic Royal Roads lands by building and operating activities in a way that balances social, economic, environmental and institutional considerations.  The university has been a leader in sustainability, lowering its carbon footprint since 1995, while at the same time continuing to support a growing and diverse academic program and student population.   More recently, the university has also made a continuous effort, through the maturing of its enterprise risk framework, to manage resources and prepare the organization to mitigate risk and take advantage of emerging opportunities.

By integrating the sustainability function with the evolving enterprise risk management framework and capital program, the relevance and long-term impact of these programs will be enhanced, while positioning the university to be a more resilient organization.

Reporting to the AVP Operations and Resilience, with day-to-day leadership and management responsibilities for the Enterprise Project Management Office and Resilience, the Associate Director, EPMO will be accountable for the implementation and ongoing operations of a new EPMO, including support to the coordination of the university’s capital program, evolution of the enterprise sustainability function and routine oversight of the resilience team.

Specific to the EPMO, the Associate Director is responsible for developing and implementing an enterprise portfolio governance structure and framework which will provide oversight and reporting on all enterprise portfolio initiatives.  The position will organize and track all enterprise level initiatives of varying complexity and will directly oversee a team of project managers, both internal and external.  The Associate Director’s role is critical in providing support to the enterprise-wide coordination and collaboration of priority initiatives, while promoting a risk-intelligent, resilient and efficient approach to planning and completing all work assignments.

The Associate Director will also provide routine oversight support to the resilience portfolio including enterprise risk and emergency operations planning and management.

Oversight of all enterprise initiatives is critical to ensure they are tracking against each set of outcomes in the annual operating plan and ensuring the organization is aligned with the university’s five-year business plan. The Associate Director provides support to organizational planning and performance management processes and takes the lead on development of all EPMO monthly and quarterly reporting requirements.

Working collaboratively with the AVP Operations & Resilience, the Associate Director is expected to seek out and develop strong collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders (internal and external), “clients” and key decision makers.
