The Associate Director of Project Management/PMO leads the project management team within Information Technology and is responsible for planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget, and to recommend changes to increase project success.
The position requires prior law firm experience and expertise in effectively managing and implementing technology systems, applications and integrations as well as in-depth knowledge of business process engineering and change management methodologies.
- Collaborate with various teams within IT and across the Firm to develop and manage a detailed project schedule and project plans
- Determine and define project scope, objectives, and relevant stakeholders
- Manage a team of Project Managers, instilling project management standards within such team
- Predict resources needed to reach objectives and ensure resource availability and allocation in an effective and efficient manner
- Prepare budget based on scope of work and resource requirements
- Track project costs in order to meet budget
- Identify and manage project dependencies, pre-requisites and critical path
- Analyze and manage project risk and issue tracking for timely resolution
- Develop and manage quality assurance and testing activities
- Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders and project team about strategy, adjustments and progress
- Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables
- Utilize industry best practices, techniques and standards throughout entire project execution
- Monitor progress and make adjustments as needed
- Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement
Requirements
- 5-8 years of project management and related experience
- Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget and timeline
- Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for execution of projects
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively
- Critical and analytical thinking and problem solving skills
- Strong presentation, written and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management ability
- Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
- Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- ITIL or ITSM certification or equivalent experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field is required
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required
