Capital Project Manager

The Capital Project Manager is vital to the management of capital projects undertaken by the District of Columbia (D.C.) Courts.  The position of Capital Project Manager performs duties and responsibilities under the auspices of the Capital Projects and Facilities Management Division of the D.C. Courts.  The incumbent will primarily be responsible for the management of capital projects for the D.C. Courts and may also be assigned project management responsibility for non-capital projects.



Brief Description of Duties:

  • Performs all critical aspects of managing essential projects, including planning, initiation, execution, and closeout.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with contractual and organizational stakeholders, as well as regulatory agencies.
  • Develops and manages required financial aspects of assigned projects including but not limited to the determination of earned value and the tracking of financial obligations and expenses from the project’s conception through its closeout.
  • Plans and develops accurate requests for funding to support each project.
  • Coordinates and manages schedule related activities of each assigned project and will be responsible for the impact these activities have on budgetary resources.

Clarification from the Agency:

United States Citizens or individuals lawfully admitted for permanent residency or authorized by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service to work in the United States.


Minimum Qualifications:  A bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or a related field plus five (5) years of experience in construction project management.  Must have experience working on projects that include oversight over projects located in secured facilities.

PMP and/or CCM certification preferred.
