CIP Project Manager

Rainbow Municipal Water District
Fallbrook (North San Diego County) , California 92028
  • Payrate
    $9,923,604 To $14,387,364 Yearly
  • Job Status
    Full Time

As our District grows and aging infrastructure gets replaced, we will need a strong Project Manager to manage engineering, Capital Improvement Projects (CIP), development, and facilities projects related to the design and construction of water and wastewater distribution and collection systems. You will manage projects from start to finish, from project planning through final inspection and project acceptance.

At a minimum, we need someone who has managed small- and large-scale public works projects for a water utility, city, or construction contractor from conception through construction.

Just as importantly, the qualities below are what will make the selected candidate highly successful in the role. If it sounds like you, then consider applying:

  • You are a strong leader, which you demonstrate through your interactions with others, ability to make decisions, and ability to get projects across the finish line.
  • You thrive when you are juggling multiple projects, people, and timelines.
  • You are a relationship builder and have an innate ability to develop a strong rapport with contractors, residents, and District staff.
  • Your natural drive for excellence is evident when you hold contractors accountable for quality, timely, and in-budget results.
  • Despite having multiple irons in the fire, you are the first person to notice if something isn’t happening as planned.
  • You are a bit of a chameleon and can adapt your communication style to the audience, whether it’s the construction crew, a group of homeowners, or the Board of Directors.
  •  You notice the important details, which shines through when you are negotiating or managing contracts, monitoring contractor compliance, reviewing progress invoices, and ensuring adherence to the Administrative Code.
  • You have sufficient knowledge of general construction—including hot mix asphalt and concrete— so you can take a narrative description of needs from Operations, then come up with an appropriate facilities solution.
  • You understand engineering concepts and may even be a Professional Engineer, but you prefer to be hands-on and see things get built rather than be stuck in an office designing all day - this is important because you will probably be in the field 50% of the time.
