The IBM GBS Cloud Application Innovation (CAI) Practice is a team of industry experienced, strategy, business, and technology consultants who collaborate with our clients to co-create a cognitive and digital agenda for their businesses. This is a growing practice which includes practice team in cloud application development, cloud advisory, big data, security and complex system architecture and integration.

Our Cloud Application Innovation practice is looking for Senior Project Manager - one focusing in the Transaction and Corporate banking sector with deep understanding in Cash Management and Payment systems to apply and develop your industry expertise to help clients discover, design and deploy solutions to improve operational efficiencies, enhance enterprise effectiveness, to meet specific regulatory requirements and to become more engaged with their customers and improve the service delivery customer experience.

You will need to understand strategy, cash management and payments business process, and/or technology consulting and understand the challenges faced by organisations within the respective industry today and be inspired by the opportunity to work in a team to develop new processes and technologies to overcome these challenges. The ideal candidate will have a background in the industry as well as experience in designing, identifying opportunities for automation and/or process re-engineering.

Job Role Description
This role is responsible for leading a project team in delivering a solution to the customer using the appropriate business measurements and terms and conditions for the project according to the project charter, project agreement or contract. He/She has overall performance responsibility for managing scope, cost, schedule, and contractual deliverables, which includes applying techniques for planning, tracking, change control, and risk management. He/She is responsible for managing all project resources, including subcontractors, and for establishing an effective communication plan with the project team and the customer. He/She provides day to day direction to the project team and regular project status to the customer.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Delivering the accepted solution as committed in the contract
  • Developing, executing and managing the project plan and sub-project plans
  • Leading the Delivery Team (onshore and offshore in India) to implement the solution to its completion
  • Assigning project team roles and tasks
  • Approving changes within plan costs and schedule
  • Taking corrective action when the project deviates from plans
  • Approving the release of project documents and taking any required corrective or preventive actions on the project
  • Identifying and requesting corrections and improvements to the Management System
  • Accountable for obtaining commitments, from all identified Stakeholders, on creation of the plan and whenever changes occur.
  • Ensuring that reviews are performed at the specified project milestones
Skills needed
  • Public/Healthcare industry knowledge gained either through consulting engagements with various public sector organisations/agencies or as part of an internal team working within a transformation agenda.
  • Knowledge of Project Management Principles and Quality Management Principles.
  • Ability to
    • Anticipate potential project related problems and development risk mitigation plans.
    • Analyze new and complex project related problems and create innovative solutions involving finance, scheduling, technology, methodology, tools and solution components.
    • Tailor methodologies to suit a project's requirements.
    • Develop, implement and maintain a Quality Management Plan.
    • Evaluate corrective actions for completeness in addressing reported deficiencies.
    • Identify non compliances and take necessary corrective actions
    • Identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Manage application development projects.

Required Professional and Technical Expertise
  • Proficiency in core consulting skills such as structured problem solving, project management, design thinking, process and operational modelling and the solution delivery lifecycle.
  • Experience in the development and presentation of strategies, enterprise architectures, technology impact assessment reports and points of view, linked to business objectives
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively at various levels of the business (written and oral) demonstrating excellent presentation skills
  • Well-developed analytical skills including constructing advanced quantitative models, ability to work with ambiguity, synthesise large amounts of information from internal and external sources
  • Comfortable running internal and client facing workshops and other project meetings.Work closely with IBM development teams onshore and offshore to lead them to compliant system build in line with client expectations.

Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
  • Demonstrated ability to work in high performing, fast-paced, dynamic teams and multi-cultural environment.
  • Working in Banking industry experiences is preferred.
  • Worked with Clients with consulting/relationship-driven behaviours
  • Experience working in a complex matrix organization / Cross-Brand Delivery Management and Project Delivery
  • Experience delivery projects using Agile methods
  • Agile certified and any Agile/DevOps support technologies (e.g. Jira)
  • Lean / 6 Sigma would be an advantage
  • Experience in managing projects with the following characteristics would be an advantage:
    • First-of-a-Kind Implementation
    • Complex Systems Integration
    • Challenging Client Characteristics
    • Challenging Contract Terms or Structure
