Position Announcement – Director, Budget and Compliance, Next Generation Warning System

 

Position Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional who enjoys a challenge and is energized by the prospect of joining a team of colleagues who have a commitment to our civil society and ensuring the safety of the American Public. The Director, Budget and Compliance will support the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) effort in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to deploy their Next Generation Warning System (NGWS) which will provide a more resilient and secure public alerting system, through the acquisition and implementation of emerging digital broadcast technology, delivered through our nation’s public broadcasting television and radio stations.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 years of budget, financial analysis and federal compliance experience.
  • Experience with budget development, expense analysis and business planning activities.
  • Experience managing federal grants or with regulations governing federal grants, including Uniform Guidance oversight.
  • Well established organization and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience utilizing MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with federal grants including the Uniform Guidance 2 CFR Part 200 requirements.
  • CPA, PMP or government program management certification.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops, manages and monitors NGWS business planning and budget activities including development and maintenance of project management plans.
  • In consultation with CPB’s legal and finance departments, ensures compliance with the Uniform Guidance and CPB’s Policy for Procurement of Goods and Services with FEMA NGWS funds.
  • Manages the Subrecipient monitoring, working closely with CPB’s Subrecipient Monitoring Committee on compliance and reporting on use of FEMA funds.
  • Performs special projects or assignments, including serving as project officer on contracts as needed.

Reports To: Executive Director, System Strategies - Next Generation Warning System

Compensation:

The salary for this position will be no less than $79,500 within a hiring salary range up to $120,000. Exact salary based upon experience, education related to the role, CPB compensation structure and internal equity. Annual salary increases and bonus award based on performance against annual objectives and position responsibilities.

Location:

CPB is conveniently located amidst multiple metro stops at 401 Ninth St. NW, Washington, DC. We are a largely local workforce and value employee flexibility, when possible. Currently, most positions are offsite or hybrid, depending on role, as approved by the position’s Department Head.
