Director, Building Operations and Asset Management

As the Director of Building Operations and Asset Management Division, you will be responsible for leading a team of roughly 115 members that together will deliver quality customer, warehousing and asset distribution, transportation, and maintenance services.

The role will also see you contribute to significant procurement and contracting activities while ensuring compliance with procurement and contracting standards and Senate of Canada policies. This role includes leading, supporting professional development, and managing team members' performance while maintaining strong relationship with the Union representatives. You will contribute to establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal clients, parliamentary partners and external suppliers.

As a statutory member of the Property and Services Directorate's Management Committee (PSD-MC), your responsibilities will also include working with your colleagues to contribute to identifying and implementing Division, Directorate and Senate of Canada’s Administration strategic priorities and initiatives, maintaining awareness of those priorities and initiatives among team members, and identifying and mitigating Division, Directorate and Senate risks.

Under the leadership of the Director-General, Property and Services, you will provide direction and leadership in the provision of the planning and implementation of the day-to-day delivery of building maintenance, asset management, transportation and printing services and programs to the Senate. You will also collaborate with other Directorates and Divisions across the Senate to contribute to the overall delivery of harmonized services to Senators and participate in committees and working groups with other stakeholders on Parliament Hill to represent the Property and Services Directorate on matters of building operations and asset management services.

Requirements

An ungraduate degree/diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in a professional management field or area of specialization relevant to the position
OR
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience in managing human and financial resources, including day-to-day management of teams and both unionized and non-unionized individuals.

Experience:
• Recent and extensive experience in providing client services in in an environment with complex operational and service requirements.
• Recent and extensive experience analyzing and problem-solving issues of varying complexity and communicating advice and recommendations effectively to senior and/or executive management.
• Extensive experience in labour relations, conflict management, complaints and grievance management and in negotiating and resolving differences of opinion.
• Experience in leading and managing diverse teams of unionized and non-unionized staff including: professional, trades people, and consultants, delivering operational business services.
• Experience in building and maintaining effective working relationships with various stakeholder groups.
• Ability to provide superior writing and oral presentations in order to draft and present briefing notes, business cases to senior executives and committees.
• Ability to put in practice strategic planning skills.
• Superior skills in managing competing deadlines and priorities.
• Considerable discretion, tact and diplomacy skills.

* Extensive experience is defined as having the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities which would have been acquired over 7years.* Recent experience is defined as having been acquired in the last 3 years.

• Holding a Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) Designation accredited by Supply Chain Canada and/or holding a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification accredited by the Project Management Institute (PMI) would be an asset.

$112, 300.00 CAN to $132,100.00 CAN
