POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Director, Compensation-Consulting provides strategic leadership to a team of direct reports on the execution, administration, and delivery of pay programs. They will define and direct the development of a comprehensive compensation consulting strategy that supports strategic business objectivesthat will enable the company to attract, reward, and retain top talent globally. The successful candidate will have the ability to combine both company and business strategy to helpcreate and execute on a coherent and dynamic compensation consulting philosophy and strategy. They will lead the strategic direction of theorganizations' compensation consulting practices, ensuring Discover's pay programs are aligned with Discover's strategy and industrypractice. Lastly, they will interact heavily with all levels of employees for interpretation of compensation programs whilesustaining the ability to attract, retain and motivate talented employees.

  • Provides ongoing direction and guidance to direct team on the application, design and implementation of compensation programs, policies, practices and/or procedures.
  • Proactively partners with HR and Business leads to create consultative compensation solutions for the organization.
  • Develops and drives consistency within direct team ensuring policies and procedures are in place and executed. Defines and directs strategic initiatives to align with corporate and/or department needs. Evaluates systemic issues and coordinates or implements their resolution.
  • Directs the strategic direction and design of various projects and programs to align with evolving market and/or business needs. Integrates their projects or initiatives with other enterprise strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Monitors industry trends and leading thoughts and directs operational initiatives to keep pace with modernizations.
  • Advises leadership across the enterprise to ensure compensation needs meet and support short and long term business strategy, enabling it to attract, retain and motivate talented employees. Provides interpretation of policies and programs to support business initiatives.
  • Responsible for building and developing a high performing and engaged team of Compensation professionals. Provides oversight and direction to staff.
  • Manages the operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of assigned area.

REQUIRED SKILLES:

  • Bachelor's degree or 15+ years of equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of professional experience in a compensation or benefits role or equivalent experience in human resources, economics, finance, consulting, or other roles in financial services.
  • Exceptional business management skills including planning, project management, financial management; translating business requirements into compensation strategies and plans
  • Experience with Workday or similar HRIS benchmarking platforms
  • PHR, SPHR, CCP or equivalent certifications preferred
