Summary

 

Reporting to the Director of DPSS Technology Management, you will manage our public safety related technology projects including police, security, dispatch and emergency management and administrative systems. You will also manage physical security projects across our DPSS enterprise. As the project liaison across our DPSS departments, you will ensure continuity of communications with university partners, vendors and other partners, related to new and ongoing projects and current systems functionality.

You will be responsible for technology project planning from launch through deliverables, including related tracking, facilitating project meetings, creating progress reports, and other responsibilities as determined by the Director.

Responsibilities*

 

  • You manage assigned projects, including the evaluation of system requirements; research and develop information technology system solutions and are responsible for projects from development to coordination of installation, testing, and training and long-term system sustainability.
  • You develop project budgets, and metrics to ensure the technical programs meet reported goals.
  • You write requests for information (RFI's) and requests for proposals (RFP's), review bids to ensure that vendors meet minimum requirements, provide an analysis of software systems and lead the software selection process.
  • You monitor project performance and present project progress reports for department management.
  • You perform cost benefit and technical analysis together with ITS, DPSS leadership and University Procurement.
  • You are able and willing to respond to phone calls or meet in person during business or non-traditional hours to troubleshoot emergencies, assess and prioritize systems repair needs.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

 

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • More than 1 year of related experience managing technical projects in fields listed above
  • Project management certification and training
  • Familiarity with data networking concepts and monitoring application usage
  • You have demonstrated leadership and strategic management skills
  • You have experience working in a complex, decentralized and evolving organization
  • You must be available to work flexible hours; overtime may be required
  • You understand technical compliance requirements in a law enforcement environment

 

Additional Information

 

All members of the Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) are considered Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) under The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.

As such, you are required to report Clery reportable offenses that come to your attention. DPSS employees are required to complete Clery Compliance Training within the first 14 days of employment and annually thereafter.
