REPORTS TO:       Project Engineering - Electrical Lead

FLSA STATUS:      Exempt

SUPERVISES:        None

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Electrical Project Engineer possesses, understands, and applies knowledge and experience in the full life-cycle project management of multiple projects from proposal conception to commissioning and close-out.  Projects include capacity, process and reliability improvements for areas throughout the facility.  The Electrical Project Engineer’s essential functions include: 

  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional project teams to develop project scope and requirements
  • Develop and manage project scope, resourcing plan, budget, and schedule
  • Prepare capital authorizations
  • Develop specifications and evaluate technical engineering and equipment bid packages
  • Administer engineering, equipment purchase and installation contracts
  • Coordinate and manage installations and outages
  • Track and report final project performance, schedule, and cost compliance
  • Review design packages and drawings for compliance with contract documents and Kaiser standards
  • Coordinate with internal Operations, Maintenance, Technical, and Engineering resources to achieve project objectives
  • Participate in the final check-out of new installations. This includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications
  • Assist in trouble-shooting equipment control and electrical systems
  • Coordinate and support electrical safety initiatives and Kaiser electrical standards


Requirements

EDUCATION  

 An undergraduate degree in BSEE or BSET is required. 

EXPERIENCE                  
This individual will possess:          
  • Minimum of 5 years previous electrical engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with functional and performance-based specification development
  • Familiarity with electrical and control system design including key documents such as schematics diagrams, single lines, P&ID and control narratives
  • Knowledge of low and medium voltage electrical systems, AC/DC motors and drive systems and National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E
  • Knowledge of control system theory, instrumentation, PLC based control systems and safety systems
  • Excellent analytical skills including knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Strong Word, Excel, MS Project skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work in teams
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

WORK ENVIRONMENT   
  • Approximately 80% of the job function is performed in an office setting requiring normal safety precautions. 20% of the job function is required in the plant. There is exposure to operating machinery and a manufacturing environment.

Salary Details

  • Salary range $100,000-$130,000 per year depending on experience
