Environmental Remediation Project Manager I/II

CAPE Environmental Management is looking for a qualified Project Manager I or Project Manager II to support CAPE’s environmental Remediation projects. Much of this position can be performed remotely, but requires up to 25% travel. Travel up to 75% may be required for durations as demanded by a specific project.

PM I:

1. Traits and Skills:

Basic understanding of key project management Knowledge Areas of safety, cost, scope, schedule, integration, resources, risk and procurement leadership, integrity, respectful, accountable, unifier, professional, organized, meets deadlines.

2. Experience and Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Science (Geology, Biology, Chemistry) or Construction Management, plus five (5) years field experience in Construction. Three (3) years of progressively responsible related field experience and task management, plus two (2) years of experience as onsite Quality Control that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities relative to our work. Minimum of three (3) years supporting projects for the DoD. BA or BS in Engineering/Science field or Construction Management preferred. PM I is intended to be the first step in the development of project managers. It is not expected that PM I eligible staff have all the required experience and training as indicated in the key skills and knowledge areas, but must have a firm grasp on 75% of these areas as determined by independent review conducted by the PM’s direct supervisor and another senior operations manager. Both the PM I and II positions will be mentored by their direct supervisor who will be a Senior Project Manager with over 20 years of industry experience to ensure a smooth transition into CAPE. In addition, PMs are supported during execution of our projects by a highly skilled set of support groups including Safety, Technical Services (engineers, scientists, geologists and technicians), Superintendents, Quality Control, Estimating, Project Controls, Contracts and Procurement.

PM II:

1.Traits and Skills:
Solid understanding of key project management Knowledge Areas of safety, cost, scope, schedule, integration, resources, risk and procurement. Leadership, integrity, respectful, accountable, unifier, professional, organized, meet deadlines.

2. Experience and Education:

All requirements from PM I must be met. In addition, must have 5 years of experience as a PM I and have all required experience and training as indicated above in key skills and knowledge areas. Background in remediation projects for the Department of Defense (DoD) and Federal Government contracting (FFP, FUP, CR, PBR). PM II should be competent, experienced (min 5 years) and knowledgeable in the field of hazardous and toxic waste cleanup/remediation, environmental laws and regulations. Leading the development of bids / proposals. PM II should require minimal training to be fully functional in performing federal sector remediation for CAPE’s DoD clients and in some cases private sector work. Both the PM I and II positions will be mentored by their direct supervisor who will be a Senior Project Manager with over 20 years of industry experience to ensure a smooth transition into CAPE. In addition, PMs are supported during execution of our projects by a highly skilled set of support groups including Safety, Technical Services (engineers, scientists, geologists and technicians), Superintendents, Quality Control, Estimating, Project Controls, Contracts and Procurement. A record of successful project execution and effective working relationships with clients and regulatory agencies.

Salary:

PM I base salary ranges from $80 - $100 K

PM II base salary ranges from $100 K - $125 K

Travel:

For PM I & PM II, travel is typically up to 25% however, could be up to 75% for durations as demanded by a specific project.

Responsibilities:

The PM I and PM II positions will support CAPE’s efforts executing current and future NAVFAC PACRAC, NAVFAC SW EMAC, NAVFAC SW MARAC, USACE SB PRAC, USACE RDI and possibly AFCEC F2F projects. Initial project workload will mostly be for the Navy or USACE. This position will be responsible for managing and/or overseeing projects to include: client relations, labor relations, security, budgets, cost control, schedules, financial forecasting subcontractors, change management, technical/contractual compliance, QA/QC, safety, staffing resources, invoicing, etc.; provide input into and review all project plans; coordinate and monitor project performance in accordance with approved work plans, budgets and schedules; accurately forecast and schedule revenues and resource needs. The project manager will take necessary actions to: maintain required performance, meet budgets and schedules, and ensure that required health and safety protocols are strictly followed. This position will be required to support proposal / bid development and may also be required to support business development efforts, as needed.

Other Requirements:

For both the PM I and PM II positions, must have the physical ability to oversee project activities as related to the position, including travel to project sites and have the ability to use safety and respiratory protection equipment as required. Candidates must successfully pass standard CAPE pre-employment physical, drug and background screens.
