Position Announcement - Executive Director, System Strategies - Next Generation Warning System

 

Position Opportunity:

The Executive Director will lead the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s (CPB) effort, in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to deploy their Next Generation Warning System (NGWS), which will provide a more resilient and secure public alerting system, through the acquisition and implementation of emerging digital broadcast technology, delivered through our nation’s public broadcasting television and radio stations.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience and competence in overseeing multi-million dollar projects.
  • Experience planning, contracting and reporting utilizing project management best practices.
  • Experience managing, leading and directing the work of others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP or government program management certification.
  • Familiarity with or knowledge and experience in working with broadcast alert and warning systems.
  • Familiarity with media technology and broadcast engineering services. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and staff department with a team responsible for ensuring program success.
  • Ensures compliance with NGWS grant program requirements for the acquisition and installation of updated digital broadcasting technology and equipment for public broadcasting radio and television stations.
  • Establishes operating plans with goals, objectives and priorities aligned with FEMA grant awards.
  • Manages awarding and overseeing sub-grants to public broadcast organizations encompassing the application process, tracking deliverables, establishing performance metrics, and ensuring regulatory compliance, including Uniform Guidance reporting.
  • Serves as the Primary liaison with the FEMA program staff.
  • Communicates effectively regarding NGWS projects, including reports, memos, and presentations.

Reports To: Vice President, System Strategies

Compensation:

The salary for this position will be no less than $110,000 within a salary range up to $175,000. Exact salary based upon experience, education related to the role, CPB compensation structure and internal equity. Annual salary increases and bonus award based on performance against annual objectives and position responsibilities.

Location:

CPB is conveniently located amidst multiple metro stops at 401 Ninth St. NW, Washington, DC. We are a largely local workforce and value employee flexibility, when possible. Currently, most positions are offsite or hybrid, depending on role, as approved by the position’s Department Head.
