Our team is looking for an Executive Partnerships Manager to grow a critical piece of our Digital community. The partnerships we establish with Developers, Systems Integrators and Fintech companies are an important part of driving innovation at Discover. Generating value and success with these partners is vital to our long-term growth and goals. This position is responsible for leading the identification, business development and client management efforts for these new partner relationships. This function will support our digital payments strategy with vendors facilitating e-commerce and mobile payments including entities that create payment technology solutions such as mobile app providers, payment facilitators, web based platforms, integrated software vendors, and Software as a Service (SaaS) technologies.

The primary responsibilities include establishing and growing relationships with the above partners to maximize card acceptance, create transaction volume growth and market-share improvement, ensure consistent implementation of Discover Global Network value added products, execute on strategic initiatives and marketing programs in support of initiatives to broaden the acceptance footprint. Consult with client facing teams within Discover and other internal business partners to help them support their client needs in regards to mobile, digital and contactless payments. Serve as an internal resource and subject matter expert on the assigned technology partners and overall digital payments industry.

Responsible for leading the acquiring, business development and client management efforts for our top partners. Serves as the subject matter expert for assigned portfolio. Ensures execution of projects with department wide impact.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the strategic liaison between Discover and assigned partner(s) by maintaining relationships with decision-makers across all divisions of the assigned partner
  • Work with partner(s) and internal business partners to identify, develop and implement new business partnership opportunities
  • Ensure partners maintain acceptance and product offerings
  • Present and execute marketing and promotional initiatives to increase transactions, grow market-share and improve merchant stated awareness
  • Implement and support operational initiatives and ensure full compliance with Discover Network's Change Release process, compliance and business practices
  • Leverage industry knowledge and experience to drive sales, accelerate business results and build and win new acceptance
  • Achieve the account objectives by implementing account plans and using account management and tracking
  • Help create and drive Discover's strategy to support the Developer, Systems Integrator and Fintech payments ecosystem
  • Champion new technologies and innovative partnerships to remain competitive in the digital landscape
  • Identify industry trends, new product offerings and needed changes for continuous improvement
  • Utilize open source platforms and developer community to identify potential partnership opportunities to close acceptance gaps
  • Participate in payment industry associations and focus groups to drive awareness and prepare Discover for potential business impacting changes
  • Ability to travel 40%-50% of the time, including overnight

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here's what we need from you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in Business Development, Sales, Relationship Management, Strategy, or related field
  • In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of experience in Business Development, Sales, Relationship Management, Strategy, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

If we had our say, we'd also look for:

  • Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field
  • 5 years of experience, preferably with successful software developer and/or fintech sales/relationship management experience with focus on the payments industry technology
  • Ability to leverage industry and technology knowledge and experience to accelerate business results with senior level management of assigned technology partners
  • Exceptional relationship management and consultative sales skills and proven experience building deep and influential relationships with key stake holders, executive level clients and internal business partners
  • Broad payments industry experience and knowledgeable about acquiring industry and key business functions: planning, strategy, marketing, finance, operations, etc.
  • Ability to produce and deliver influential presentations (internal & external)
  • Strong project management, business analysis, interpersonal and communication skills
