Fire Alarm Designer III

As a NICET Certified Level IV Fire Alarm Designer, you are a leader amongst peers; you collaborate with peer designers for continuous development of engineering standards, best practices, and operational efficiencies. You provide Fire Alarm expertise and design guidance to our CAD drafters, and serve as a mentor when needed. In this role, you will proactively communicate with colleagues, vendors, consultants and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Provides code compliant fire alarm design and drawing assistance for projects during the development and record drawing stages of the engineered drawings. Design shall include both addressable networked systems and conventional fire alarm systems.
  • Performs circuit and battery calculations.
  • Prepares code compliant fire alarm drawings using AutoCAD or Revit software, as needed.
  • Obtains electronic plans from engineers/architects/owners. Prepares formal submittal booklets, containing schematics, technical literature, record drawings and O\u0026M manuals per project requirements as necessary to support each contract.
  • Participates in internal design review meetings and submits detailed project drawings to the project manager for review.
  • Liaises with other members of the project team as directed and required.
  • Participate in project turnover meetings with both sales and project team.
  • Provide project team with all documentation, programming graphics, etc. per project requirements.
  • Obtain project design information as required from vendors, insurance carriers, owners, consultants and AHJ as required.

Additional skills include:

  • Advance technical skills and experience related to Fire \u0026 Life Safety systems.
  • Knowledge/expertise in AutoCAD.
  • Strong skills in reading and understanding construction drawings, architectural and electrical layouts and diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical/electronic theory and components.
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft SharePoint and the MS Office suite of applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
