Your Role and Responsibilities
At IBM we know technology. But technology is only as good as the results it delivers. As an IBM Technical Project Manager, you will directly contribute to the success of IBM Global Cloud Acceleration Team (GCAT) in solving a variety of technical challenges as well as project manage the team to onboard key customers to the IBM Cloud.

The GCAT is a new international and highly strategic post-sales mission focused on accelerating cloud adoption in Key accounts that have no or low utilization on the IBM Public cloud. GCAT will focus on accelerating Time to Revenue on Key Strategic Deployments and smooth the transition from Sales to Client Success. It will play a centric collaboration role to fully leverage all existing Cloud capabilities to accelerate TTR for the success of our Clients & IBM.
You will play a pivotal role in managing projects required for specific accounts to onboard IBM cloud from within the team, external teams and the customer. You will also be responsible for working across teams to manage resources and interdependencies as required. You will be tasked with challenging and novel situations every day and coordinate high profile projects across multiple teams. You will have the opportunity to interface with a wide variety of other technology teams across IBM as well as high visibility customers.

Candidates should have technical ability and background, be process oriented and be motivated to achieve results in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should be willing to roll up their sleeves and complete the definition and set-up work required and have a high level of ownership and accountability throughout the entire project life cycle. Your superb verbal and written communication skills allow you to convey concepts and considerations to non-experts and be comfortable presenting to senior IBM leadership and customers.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Gather and manage customer onboarding requirements from all key areas to help drive the definition and scope of the project
  • Help define work efforts and required skill sets to identify required roles and resources
  • Schedule work for the Agile development process and continually interact to provide support and clarification with the team through sprint planning and management
  • Manage development timelines and summarize status to provide updates and relevant information for executive consumption
  • Track and manage milestones for customer engagement tied to IBM dependencies
  • Identify and escalate project risks along with a mitigation strategy

It is helpful for this role to have an understanding of cloud architecture, social, mobile, analytics and security. Enterprise Architecture and/or Integration Architecture knowledge is beneficial to include Event-Driven architecture, middleware, systems/infrastructure, applications, databases, and performance tuning. This role should have an understanding of a broad set of information technology tools, methods and architectures, architecture expertise in multiple application platforms, and an understanding of current or future technical applications and architectures being driven by an industry.


Required Professional and Technical Expertise
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Project management: 5+ years
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum
  • Excellent verbal/written communications skills and experience interacting with Executive stakeholders


Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
  • Experience with Jira or other project management tools
  • Working knowledge of SaaS release methodologies
  • Experience with Jira and Aha!
  • PMP certification
