Head of Program/Project Management

OVERVIEW 

COLLINS seeks an experienced Head of Program Management Leader. This position combines skills and experience in project scoping and structuring, project and financial management, tracking and monitoring for impact to ensure effective program and project management is applied to all COLLINS projects at all stages of the customer lifecycle.

This leader will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Chief Creative Officer, Head of Client Success, Head of Business Operations, Head of Revenue Management, and Client-Side Leadership. This position will also collaborate with each discipline's Senior Management Team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Management Leadership

  • Provide management, leadership, and strategic vision of a new Program Management Unit that supports clients’ outcomes and COLLINS’ outcomes. 

  • Set standards for program management capabilities, including certifications and qualifications for project managers, success measurement criteria, methodologies, tools to be used, etc.

  • Create processes and systems to ensure effective project management and implementation across the organization to deliver clients’ outcomes and COLLINS’ outcomes. 

  • Develop training and capacity building processes and training modules to promote project management best practices.

  • Direct the activities of the Program Management Unit and determine how team resources should be allocated across programs and projects.

  • Build a community of practice for good project management at COLLINS involving program managers, project managers, corporate development, operations, and finance staff.


Project Management Implementation and Compliance:

  • Ensure that project implementation is responsive to our dynamic work and aligned with COLLINS core values, strategic plan, and guiding principles.

  • Establish tracking and monitoring systems that will provide ongoing business intelligence of COLLINS performance at a project level; Translate that business intelligence into insights and actions that can drive continuous improvements in COLLINS.

  • Guide efficient and effective project start-up and close-down mechanisms:

    • Create, in partnership with the Head of Client Success, an onboarding process & experience for new clients.

    • Create a set of protocols and  standards for scoping new projects for existing clients 

    • Establish and maintain adherence to “sunset meetings” to acquire knowledge learned in a particular project, share with other project managers, and recycle it into the next project. 


Program and Project Reporting and Monitoring

  • Establish tools, systems, and dashboard for monthly reporting to CEO, Head of Business Operations and Head of Revenue Management 

  • Provide executive clients with the information needed to assess which projects have the highest potential value, impact, and strategic alignment.

  • Interface with executive clients to define project priorities and implementation opportunities and challenges, and keep them up-to-date with project risks and opportunities.

  • Track project annual budgets and forecasts while working with Project Managers to explain variance, and propose and take steps for programmatic course corrections when necessary. 

  • Review Monthly Project Reports to ensure strong monthly financial oversight.


Staff Management, Professional Development, and Team Building

  • Create a work atmosphere conducive to professional growth and development of excellent personnel at all levels.

  • Recruit top-tier program managers and project managers

  • Promote accountability among program and project management, clients, and project team members

Requirements

  • Formal education in project management is required: may be master program or certification program

  • Strong experience of at least 12 years of relevant work experience in manufacturing or software development. Primary experience in a service industry – including agency or consultancy experience – is not desired.

  • Expert-level knowledge of project and change management and associated methodologies, techniques, processes and approaches (e.g. Project and Portfolio Management Methodology – PPM)

  • Experience running agile methodologies; Kanban experience is a plus. 

  • Facilitation, Negotiation & Problem Resolution Skills: Ability to build a strong network and relationships at executive levels with technology and solutions, customers and vendor groups
