SVB is currently expanding into the Canadian market to better service the booming Canadian tech and life sciences industries. We are currently looking to hire an Implementation Manager in our Toronto office.


The Implementation Manager will play a key role in implementing and optimizing the end-to-end operations of SVB Canada. This is a multi-faceted position that provides support to meet service and business objectives. With the ability to understand and partner with many functional areas across the organization, this position will support and, in certain cases, lead the delivery of key operational initiatives for the Canadian business.


As an Implementation Manager, you will:

  • Oversee the implementation and optimization of key initiatives relating to SVB’s Canadian business operations including, but not limited to, payment processes and procedures, cross-border engagements, core document management, and internal control systems.
  • Assess current state of the loan operations and middle office operations and flows for relevant Canadian processes and identify best practices and future state for Canadian operations and flows;
  • Identify opportunities for improvement which will have a material impact on the Canadian business efficiency and client experience
  • Collaborate with cross-border teams in Canada and the US, across functional areas
  • Build and cultivate partnerships with colleagues in SVB operations, IT, sales, and service to create efficiencies, effectiveness, and to ensure the correct level of control is in place to support the Canadian business
  • Provide an environment of open communication that keeps leadership, peers, partners, and staff well informed about all critical information 


  • Experience and familiarity working in financial institutions / banks in an operational capacity
  • Ability to work in dynamic, fast paced and at times ambiguous environment
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Ability to work effectively both within a team and semi-autonomously
  • Possess a high level of energy and initiative
  • Be capable of functioning as a collaborative partner and value-added business contributor to the Canada Branch management team
  • An ability to ‘lead’ and ‘do’; providing leadership, direction and support to the team as well as personally produce work
  • Ability to work in small teams and collaborate with business partners in the US operations
  • Ability to create and support an environment that inspires creative thinking, innovation and motivation



  • 7+ years of related experience
  • Experience working in financial institutions
  • Ability to navigate across a matrixed organization and effect change
  • Strong project and/or operations management experience
  • Skilled communicator and strong ability to form relationships
  • Strong understanding and appreciation for overall client experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Consulting experience is considered an asset
  • Master’s degree is considered an asset
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset
  • Process improvement (e.g. Lean Six Sigma) certification is considered an asset
  • This role will be based in Toronto. Travel may be occasionally required for training or team meetings. Must be able to travel to the United States.
