Direct management of Project Management and Project Administration personnel. The position is also responsible for performing Project Management duties on projects as required.  Responsible for the commercial, financial and technical success of applications and solutions.   Assume responsibility for cost control, schedule, quality and customer satisfaction.  Negotiate pricing and scope issues and manage subcontracts. Leads multiple project efforts and large projects with high risk, subcontractors, high dollar values and/or multiple resources in a system engineering environment. 
 Designs and develops standards, processes and reusable tools in support of the Vertech and CSIA standards.  Plans and deploys necessary resources to deliver projects based upon the Vertech Project Execution Methodology. Supports the development of enterprise wide tools that directly impact operational efficiency along with the capturing and retention of Vertech intellectual property.  Scope of responsibilities includes development, deployment and training of standard operating procedures, project execution standards, administrative functions, continuous improvement and data retention standards.  
Primary Job Duties:
  • Perform duties as described in the Project Manager job description when performing project management activities.
  • Directly manage Project Management and Project Administration personnel, including scheduling, career development and HR requirements.
  • Directly responsible for the review of project proposals to determine goals, time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of resources.
  • Develops project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of required resources.
  • Role will require demonstrated leadership in Earned Revenue Project Accounting principles.  Must be willing to take ownership of Enterprise Wide project margin performance and improvements.
  • Must be able to adapt to dramatic change in customer requirements, and be flexible to accommodate changes without impacting financials or employee morale.  Must be seen as a direct communicator listing financial and time impacts to management and the customer
  • Requires high level of conflict resolution skills, and is willing to make difficult decisions specific to resource planning and/or utilization of associates
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice. 
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project management personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget.
  • Monitors, controls and reports on PMO teams’ job costs.  Reviews status reports prepared by project managers and modifies schedules and plans as required.  
  • Prepares reports and keeps management, clients, and others informed of project status and related issues.
  • Duties will require travel and physical work such as climbing and carrying of heavy loads and working in industrial facilities with harsh environments will be required.
  • Coordinates project activities with marketing, sales, engineering, operations, customer support, and customer staff to ensure goals and requirements are met. 
  • Supports Vertech sales department in development of large proposals.


  • PMP Qualification Required (Minimum experience and education according to the Project Management Institute)
  • PMI Certified Preferred or the ability to obtain PMP within one year of employment
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills for collaboration and teamwork
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills are required
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Four year college or university program certificate; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience in electrical, civil, mechanical, structural or chemical engineering, or engineering management or construction management or business management with a specialty in one of those areas, and seven (7) years experience; or ten (10) years experience managing technical projects.
  • Working knowledge of database software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software such as MS Office Suite and the ability to operate a PC.

  • Ability to work in a Matrix Leadership environment, as project activity will span multiple locations and resources.
  • Proven and recognized project management leader in engineering management and leadership
  • Direct experience managing personnel is desirable
