Summary:

This is a 3 year independent contractor role.

This role is remote; some travel may be required.

The Information Technology Project Manager will plan, establish, and manage information technology (IT) projects and will serve as a liaison between the business and technical aspects of assigned projects.

Keys to success for this position are based on the incumbent’s ability to work successfully with project team members while still ensuring that projects are completed with quality and within allotted schedule.

In addition to leading teams, it’s essential for the Project Manager to have a working knowledge of project management tools, processes, framework and reporting standards. Projects involve stakeholders, so it’s equally important that the IT Project Manager understand how to manage stakeholder relationships.

 

 

Competencies:

The PM must display a broad knowledge of IT financial processes, including current and future industry directions and solutions. S/he needs to anticipate and identify issues that may prevent deliverables and develop and implement corrective actions. The incumbent builds and maintains relationships that incorporate cooperation, trust, and respect by devoting the appropriate time and energy to facilitate business transactions.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the coordination and completion of projects and oversees all aspects of projects, sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors and summarizes progress of projects
  • Prepares reports for management regarding status of projects
  • Conducts routine stand-up meetings as determined by the business
  • Oversees business requirements gathering and translates into technical documentation
  • Supervise system testing as well as UAT (User acceptance testing)
  • Responsible for the coordination and completion of projects and oversees all aspects of projects, sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors and summarizes progress of projects
  • Prepares reports for management regarding status of projects
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Thorough understanding of project management principles and planning
  • Thorough understanding of information technology procedures and practices including but not limited to Agile, Scrum & Waterfall methodologies
  • Proficient with, or able to quickly become proficient with, a range of general and specialized applications, software, and hardware used in the organization and the industry.
  • Ability to motivate groups of people to complete a project in a timely manner.
  • Negotiates and persuades other groups with diverse perspectives to gain cooperation and achieve customer objectives

 

 

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, and/or years of relevant experience and background to equate to the degree
  • Four (4) to six (6) years Project Management experience
  • Three (3)+ years of Project experience with system implementations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across the organization and to interact, influence and negotiate effectively at all levels of management
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
  • Confident team builder and leader with strong motivational skills
  • Adept in problem solving and resolving conflict with effective negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to establish detailed project plans with accurate resource and time estimates
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a large group of team members from cross-functional business areas
  • Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in creating Ad-hoc presentations or project reports

 

Preferred:

  • PMP; Project Management Professional credential
  • Six Sigma or equivalent a plus

 

 

 

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Office (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) and SharePoint
  • Asana Project Management Software a plus

 

 

Working Conditions:

The Association’s headquarters is located in an office building in New York, NY. This position is a remote position.

 

 

Other:

Some domestic travel required
