IT Infrastructure Technical Project Manager

Overview

The Technical Project Manager will define and ensure successful execution of assigned Workstream(s) (Infrastructure Tracks). The role must be able to define and manage the overall project plan, establish key customer relationships and manage expectations, be well organized and able to manage external vendor relationships and/or assigned staff. They must have the ability to effectively communicate as well as manage and define risk mitigation strategies to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and within scope.

Role and Skills

The individual should have experience and a high-level knowledge of Enterprise IT infrastructure and services such as compute (open systems platform, virtualization platforms, on-prem and off-prem cloud), database, middleware, applications, infrastructure, networking (switch, router, firewall, load balance), storage (SAN, NAS, backup, archiving) as well as application lifecycle processes. The candidate for this position will have demonstrated experience in delivering large IT Infrastructure scale projects successfully, on budget and on time as well as have the necessary collaboration skills to motivate team members, focus on customer needs and deliver project objectives. This position requires excellent IT technical knowledge of project management disciplines, practices and deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Providing the delivery of global infrastructure lifecycle migration projects to PTS clients
  • Delivery and support within a corporate environment
  • Delivering on time and to budget
  • Develop and maintain vendor and supplier relationships
  • Demonstrate and continue to provide subject matter expertise
  • Work with peer consultants within PTS to deliver client focused assignments
  • Set specific project level objectives
  • Create and manage detailed project plans utilizing the Program Office standards (MS Project)
  • Oversee detailed application and infrastructure discovery for lifecycle remediation
  • Track progress against plan through structured meetings with project participants
  • Identify any additional work-streams that require separate plans or processes
  • Identify and escalate project interdependencies
  • Publish project artifacts to SharePoint
  • Identify and escalate any divergence from project objectives
  • Create and manage RAIDC logs
  • Report project milestone performance to Program Office
  • Facilitate regular project meetings at Infrastructure Project level
  • Complete Project Completion Record and lessons learned for each project under management

 


Requirements

Skills and Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree (Business Administration preferred) or related work experience
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience establishing and executing IT Infrastructure projects is required
  • Capability to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control and close on cross-organizational IT projects concurrently
  • ExperienceofworkinginanITOperationsservicedeliveryenvironmentforaCorporateorServiceProvider organization, and/or, thedeliveryofa similar roleasa technicalprojectmanager.
  • Soundmanagementexperienceofmanaging teamsinthedeliveryofITServices
  • Experience in the financial sector an advantage
  • Abletopresenteffectively,conveythemessageandcaptureandmaintaintheaudience’sattention
  • Working with global organizations an advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, Visio, and Project
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint
  • Applying standard project management methodologies and enforcing project standards;i.e. Prince2 / PMP
  • Preparing project engagement reviews and quality assurance checks
  • Managing project risks
  • Experience with Open Systems platforms such as Windows, RH Linux, Solaris and AIX is an advantage
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as ESX, Oracle LDOM, AIX VIO, RH KVM is an advantage
  • Experience with MS SQL, Oracle and Sybase is an advantage
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Experience in fast-paced technology project roles
  • Effective working individually and within team environments
  • Able to effectively prioritize multiple tasks
