Who We Are:
The Tactical Aerospace Department provides our customers with aerospace related research, development, production, test and/or support to new products, sustainment, and modernization programs for the DoD industry, Allies, and U.S. Government.
Objectives of this Role:
- Develop avionics systems architectures, leading systems engineering tasks for complex avionics/aerospace systems, and the technical project leadership for the Tactical Aerospace Department.
- Work collaboratively across a multi-disciplinary engineering teams to establish hardware and firmware requirements for complex flight worthy avionics hardware.
- Interact directly with clients and company staff to establish system requirements and architectures to meet client expectations.
- Support Department management in specific marketing activities and proposal development of embedded avionics programs.
- Support department management in developing product/technical roadmaps.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Perform as a System Engineer over embedded avionics programs.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team to develop, integrate, and test complex avionics, including flight test; this includes leading the team using schedules and earned value.
- Meet with internal and external customers to establish system technical requirements and facilitate development of specification documents and system architectures.
- Lead trade analyses within and across the relevant domains (e.g., scientific, engineering, manufacturing, applications, infrastructure).
- Work with stakeholders to allocate functions to components/systems; and develop those allocations into requirements for the engineers, designers, and managers to design, develop, integrate and test.
Requirements
- Requires a Bachelor’s of Science in EE/ECE, Computer Engineering, or Engineering Science degree with 10 years of experience, or a Masters degree with 9 years of experience
- Experience providing system engineering over U.S. DoD embedded avionics sustainment and modernization programs is preferred
- Broad, basic understanding of business and engineering activities/disciplines in avionics development (e.g. Systems, HW, SW, Firmware, Integration, Testing, Factory Support, CONOPS, Certification, Safety FMEA, Integration, EVMS, Bid/Proposals)
- Basic / Intermediate experience using Enterprise Modeling Tools to model complex systems using SysML
- Experience developing, deriving, and allocating tiered Systems Engineering requirements
- Proven ability to work effectively and collaborate in a team environment
- Demonstrated capability to communicate clearly – verbally, textually and graphically – to technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels
- Experience implementing systems on RTOS’s, cyber
- Experience with product, functional, and technical roadmaps
- Experience with schedules, budgets, and EVMS
- Experience with Bid and Proposals
- Experience with certification/safety standards (e.g. DO-178 / DO-254/DO-160)
- Experience with Open Architecture hardware and software implementations (e.g. SOSA, MOSA, FACE, OMS).
- Experience with System Architectures, System Safety Analysis, FMEA, Hardware architectures, avionic I/O , latency analysis, and MBSE.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required
