The Compliance Program Management Office is responsible for all aspects of project management for key, strategic projects including enterprise-wide Compliance initiatives and requirements with Discover Card, Payments, Network and all other DFS subsidiaries. These projects include Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Sanctions, Compliance Programs, and all other Compliance related program initiatives.

The Project Manager role is responsible for project management oversight of multiple high visibility, high priority projects.

Responsible for managing projects from inception to implementation. Leads project teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers business requirements and translates them for project teams. Manages all aspects of each project. Leads project teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet business needs.
  • Assembles project teams. Aligns roles and responsibilities for all project resources. Ensures project progress is tracked and team members are providing progress updates.
  • Assists with business requirements analyses. Manages project scopes, issues, and risks. Ensures change controls are executed appropriately. Estimates work efforts and manages resources.
  • Documents agendas, meeting minutes, action items, project plans, and issue logs. Communicates project statuses to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and drive new strategic initiatives and enhancements as well as remediation efforts of regulatory and audit action plans.
  • Create, develop, monitor and execute project plans, tracking all aspects of initiatives.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule and meet quality objectives.
  • Monitor and manage start dates, completion dates, and adjusted due dates for projects in the BSA/AML & Sanctions plans, ensuring that these plans are regularly updated and noted as appropriate.
  • Facilitate regular working group meetings and additional support meetings needed to ensure the work in the BSA/AML & Sanctions plans is moving forward.
  • Identify and analyze stakeholder business objectives and translate them into functional requirements with clearly articulated benefits; document business processes, both current and future state.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness and knowledge of regulatory compliance and risk management requirements.
  • Lead and facilitate work stream project teams composed of cross-functional representation from multiple business units across the enterprise at various levels to drive the remediation of regulatory action plans
  • Daily interaction with vendors, Discover internal teams across the organization including field and headquarters personnel, business lines, Finance, Corporate Risk Management, Internal Audit, support areas, technology teams and Compliance teams.
  • Interact with all levels including up to senior management levels.

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here's what we need from you:

  • Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts, Business, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in Project Management, Computer Science, Infrastructure Technology Solutions, or related field
  • In lieu of a degree, 6+ years of experience in Project Management, Computer Science, Infrastructure Technology Solutions, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts, Business, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in Project Management, Business solutions, Risk related projects or related field.
  • Agile and/or Kanban, PMP
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and driving results across large matrixed teams under tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Strong analysis, decision-making and logic skills
  • Self-motivated, display a high level of initiative
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint, Visio, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of staff, management and regulators
  • Ability to influence others without having direct accountability for them
  • General knowledge of financial services laws or regulations including Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act and Sanctions
  • Experience with Microsoft Project
