Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for installing, programming, system start-up/check-out, certification, and related customer training on assigned Fire, Security, Nurse Call, Fire, and/or other electronic security projects. Helps deliver assigned projects effectively and within budgeted cost and time schedules with guidance as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services a variety of systems and equipment which may include electronic security and fire alarm \u0026 life safety with guidance as needed. Colleague interface for the provision of technical support and training for the customer and as such is accountable for maximizing customer satisfaction.
  • Familiar with basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures unassisted, may require assistance with more complex specifications. Interprets manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics and using standard test instruments and hand tools.
  • Operates systems to demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance and identify malfunctions. Writes routine programs for systems.
  • Acts as our customers best service provider at all times thereby ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customers first choice for service. Takes ownership of onsite project including safety, quality and performance.
  • May provide custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning and execution, systems audits and consultation, and/or database management and manipulation. May install, configure, and support a variety of network systems and equipment for assigned projects.
  • Performs all work in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations as well as company health and safety policies and procedures. Uses solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
  • May advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques and standards as well as suggestions for product improvements. May participate or assist with developing customer presentations or similar new business development activities.
  • Executes many of the technical aspects of multiple projects with varying timelines and budgets including, programming, graphics development, start-up, certification testing, customer training, close-out documentation, and on-going technical support etc.
  • Identifies potential project risks, communicates to appropriate parties and assist in the development and implementation of strategies to minimize impact and to control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
  • Works closely with the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager and assists in the overall coordination of specific projects; makes recommendations regarding quality of work and potential changes in scope, and identifies ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Skills

  • Developing exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted
  • Developing technical skills and experience related to intercoms, nurse call systems, fire alarm systems, electronic security systems, etc...
  • Ability to develop basic programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions
  • Being a self-starter and work well without supervision.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and ability to read blueprints and drawings; solid math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.)
  • Frequent visits to jobsites are required. Overnight travel is required from time-to-time.
  • Valid drivers license required.
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Basic organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Basic computer skills including exposure to MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)

  • Product-specific certifications are a bonus with industry-specific certifications desired

Protective Clothing Required:
  • The position may require Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use such as safety glasses, hard hat, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes or work boots, as required on job site.
Physical Demands:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear; uses hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls.
  • On occasion, the colleague may be required to climb and work in high places, stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders
  • Position may also require work in confined spaces and exposure to different types of outdoor weather conditions.
  • Risk of electrical shock and/or general hazards found in a construction environment are present.

The colleague must frequently lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift, push or pull up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
The position is a field position. The colleague regularly performs local work-related travel.\u0026nbsp; Out of town travel as needed for overnight stays to deliver projects for customer across the state of Iowa.
