MANAGER, DTS Projects and Operations
Chicago, IL

The American Dental Association is dedicated to promoting the public's health through its initiatives in research, education, advocacy, public awareness and the development of standards.

This position manages complex cross-functional department projects, programs, and activities in the Department of Testing Services. This position also manages services and products for external clients (e.g. new business development, business plans, planning and delivery of products and services, billing, etc.), and coordinates activities with external vendors under the direction of the Senior Manager of Operations.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA with a minimum of five years' experience managing multiple complex projects with diverse needs and large teams.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive matters with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the utmost professionalism and flexibility in creating solutions.
  • Must be able to understand and interpret initiatives and execute them successfully, comprehend, interpret, and implement policies and procedures.
  • Must be attentive to detail, think strategically, and address complex issues, and present options to solve problems.
  • Must be able to coordinate varied activities in a timely manner, and prepare professional-level documents and reports.
  • Must have excellent project management, business acumen, problem-solving/analytic, organizational, time management and prioritization, experience writing verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (WORD, EXCEL & PowerPoint)
  • Occasional evening conference calls to staff committee or commission meetings. Travel to national conferences a couple of times per year.

Highly Desirable Skills:

  • Broad knowledge of higher education (e.g. administration, organizational structure, instructional programs, academic policies, and procedures).
  • Knowledge of the high-stakes testing industry and the profession of dentistry.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint (used for ADA Connect and ADA Knowledge Center) (on-the-job training available) and knowledge of project management software.
  • PMP or PMI designation preferred.
