Role Overview:

Frida is seeking a Product Development Project Manager to join our Product Development team based in Miami, FL or Los Angeles, CA. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the selected candidate will be responsible for tracking and progressing all projects, maintaining a regular cadence of meetings and reviews, implementing new processes, and ensuring on-time delivery of new products. This person will provide strategic direction, engineering support, hands-on leadership, and excellence in planning and process. The ideal candidate will have significant project management and product development experience in a rapidly growing CPG business. The Product Development Project Manager will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and entrepreneurial environment.

Core Responsibilities:

General

  • Integrate the cross-functional teams to create a cohesive project schedule and control time, cost, and quality through the product development life cycle
  • Manage and control scope creep, assess impact and risks to project delivery
  • Work with the project team to define, assess, and mitigate risks that have a significant impact on project cost, schedule, investment, and technology
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of product costs, margin, and feature changes during each project phase from design through commercialization
  • Work as a central point of communication ensuring all team members on all projects are kept up to date with current tasks and milestones
  • Report weekly on project progress and address risks immediately with the project team to escalate if needed
  • Report weekly on project status for executive review

Process Management

  • Manage product and project definition activities related to marketing and/or engineering requirements
  • Liaise with suppliers to deliver new products on time, on budget and up to Frida quality standards
  • Communicate design changes and drive team alignment on tradeoffs made during design for manufacturing
  • Orchestrate user, quality and compliance testing to meet project validation requirements

Technical Leadership

  • Participate in technical design reviews by providing project status documentation, controlling scope creep and ensuring products are designed to the intended specifications
  • Review test results summaries and recommend action plans to improve product design or performance
  • Review product test plans to ensure robust product safety and performance
  • Translate complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience to gain cross-functional alignment

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience in Project Management
  • Experience in managing new product development of consumer goods through a cross-functional stage-gate process from concept to launch
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of pertinent manufacturing processes required for plastics, metals, glass, and fabric materials. 
  • Advanced knowledge (can teach) of Gantt Charts, Microsoft Project, SharePoint, and similar project management tools
  • Have an energetic, positive team player attitude ready for the demands of a high energy, fast-paced company environment with a no-task-too-small work ethic
  • Take a people-first approach with a proven ability to build enduring professional relationships with employees, partners, vendors, and others, leading to outstanding performance
  • Be a self-starter who can prioritize, organize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive them to completion effectively with great attention to detail and quality
  • Be a creative thinker who can come up with innovative and effective ways to operationally support fast-paced growth
  • Demonstrate strong strategic thinking skills, as well as exceptionally strong communication skills
  • Commit to continued learning and expanding one’s own professional and technical knowledge
  • Have a cost centered mindset committed to maintaining margins and improving design features while balancing product costs and performance
