This position will provide subject matter expertise and thought leadership on contact and contactless EMV and related products and in particular on the development and deployment of solutions in the area of mass transit and parking. The employee will assume responsibility for EMV open-loop payment related transit product strategy and must be able to champion the product internally and externally, at all levels within Discover and our partner organizations. He or she will build relationships with the transit and parking industries and work with technology vendors to ensure support for Discover products in new deployments.

He or she will also support the product team by assisting with core activities such as policy and strategy development, production of marketing and training materials, and by leading the creation of overall product roadmaps for EMV products.

*This role can be located in Riverwoods (IL), New Albany (OH), or Phoenix (AZ), but remote candidates will be considered.

Assesses the performance of and shapes the structure and direction of new and existing product lines and leads the development and execution of strategic product plans for key initiatives such as the introduction of new products, product line extensions or product enhancements. Accountable for achieving specific goals for each product, including evaluating product performance and identifying innovations to address customer needs and improve product performance in the market.


  • Identify sources, monitor, analyze and interpret key product performance metrics including financials, network volumes, other key statistics and internal/external customer feedback trends, then develop and communicate findings and make strategic and tactical recommendations for performance improvements.
  • Define and execute strategic product road-maps to build new products, enhance existing products or improve performance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop strategies and methodologies to on-board new partners.
  • Track and understand industry trends, research findings and competitive innovations.
  • Provide business analysis and reporting on a periodic basis.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop or support sales efforts or go-to-market strategies.
  • Serve as Product Management business lead on cross-functional teams, including internal departments such as Sales, Operations, Legal, Marketing, Finance, Technology in the evaluation, development, management and/or enhancement of assigned products and/or programs.
  • Develop a strategic view of the global transit and parking market and devise a product strategy to address key opportunities
  • Develop and deliver training and other communications for internal and external partners and senior DFS management
  • Develop and deepen Discover's relationships with key partners in the transit and parking industry. These will include major transit agencies in the US and around the world, equipment and card vendors and consultants working on automatic fare collection systems

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here's what we need from you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Social Sciences, Business, Marketing, Communications or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in Card Payments, Network, Acquiring, Issuing, Mobile Technologies, Digital Payments or related field
  • In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of experience in Card Payments, Network, Acquiring, Issuing, Mobile Technologies, Digital Payments or related field including Product Management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Information Technology, Social Sciences, Business, Marketing, Communications or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in Fintech platforms, start-ups, or related field
  • Experience within the transportation/transit industry in a product capacity
  • Track record in leading business critical projects of large scope
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively within the team and across the organization with minimal supervision, working mainly independently to achieve goals agreed with leadership
  • Well-developed presentation skills, including the ability to effectively deliver information internally and externally at all levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong aptitude for planning and organization, detail-oriented
  • Ability to travel internationally
