Progam Manager

The Department of Health Policy and Management, at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland is seeking a Program Manager for the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy (JHCIRP). JHCIRP is a collaborative of injury prevention experts who conduct innovative research, teach today's practitioners and tomorrow's leaders, and translate discoveries into effective solutions to the devastating and costly problem of injuries in our society.

The Program Manager will report to the Director and be responsible for overseeing the achievement of JHCIRPs organizational goals. This will involve the coordination of efforts among the three Center cores (Administration, Training and Education and Outreach), which includes Center research projects. The Program Manager/Executive Director will also support Center leadership and Core Faculty in administrative tasks (planning and management, facilitating internal and external communication, compiling and reporting evaluation metrics, liaising with departmental administrative and finance teams to initiative and oversee budget and contracts) and will lead the Centers Inclusion, Diversity, Anti-Racism, and Equity initiative.

The Program Manager will also support a research project sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Innovative Approaches to Advancing Traffic Safety and Enforcement, which is developing new strategies for enforcing traffic laws. The Program Manager will report to the principal investigator of this project.

We are seeking a highly skilled professional with strong attention to strategy, implementation, deadlines, and goals. The successful candidate will be committed to helping the organization stay on schedule and coordinated across projects to support JHCIRPs continued path forward.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative leadership for JHCIRP.
  • Oversee multiple activities, ensuring JHCIRP goals and objectives are reached, and multiple components and cores are integrated.
  • Manage budgets.
  • Provide stewardship of partners and donors.
  • Support leadership in planning, including scoping projects, defining deliverables developing work plans, and setting budgets.
  • Generate annual progress reports.
  • Lead JHCIRP IDARE (Inclusion, Diversity, Anti-Racism, Equity initiative).
  • Participate in department and school IDARE working groups.
  • Coordinate regular engagement with the JHCIRP internal and external advisory boards.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a system for organizing and tracking JHCIRP research projects and activities.

  • Senior Research Program Coordinator II (2: 1 direct report and 1 indirect report)
  • Administrative assistant who supports center director (1 indirect report)
  • Student Research Assistant (2, direct reports)


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • Five years related experience.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in project management, nonprofit or business administration preferred.
  • Experience in research and education environments providing project and/or program management preferred.
  • Excellent project management skills including outstanding skills in communication, scheduling, critical thinking, task management, and personal organization.
  • Experience with using management tools such as Microsoft Project for monitoring the progress of large & complex projects.
  • Team-oriented approach and ability to cultivate positive and collegial workplace relationships.
  • Dependability and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience working in on/towards equity and inclusion priorities in organizations.
  • Experience with business development and contributing to the design of proposals and budgets.

Starting Salary Range: $62,780-$86,390-$110,010 Annually (Commensurate with experience)

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
