The Office of Research Administration at Boston Children’s Hospital seeks an experienced Project Manager (PM). This candidate will lead the research executive committee governance initiatives as related to the committee supporting business processes, change management and institutional communication. Manages the development of internal evaluation methodologies, data tracking systems and deliverables to meet committee needs, support decision making processes and promote transparency through communication channels.

The PM facilitates budget proposals and establishes control systems for expenditures and budget allocations.

This role serves as a business analyst for supporting research administration applications. This candidate will author functional requirements for business processes and supporting systems and generates applicable documentation including Project Charters, Functional Specification Documents (FSD) and use cases. 

Responsibilities:

  • Leads Research Executive Committees governance initiatives as related to new and existing structure of the committees and change management processes. Manages the development of internal evaluation methodologies, data tracking systems and deliverables to meet Committee needs, support decision making processes and promote transparency through communication channels.

  • Prepares budget proposals and establishes budget control system for expenditures; controls expenditures in accordance with budget allocations. Proactively communicates with senior leadership to recommend programmatic and business process improvements, equipment and resources.

  • Manages the implementation of program annual measurable goals and objectives. Establishes methodology for tracking and proactively reporting to leadership on progress.

  • Serve as sole project lead for the preparation, planning, and execution of annual Scientific Advisory Committee review for the Research Enterprise. Effectively provides technical and administrative support to programs by meeting weekly or bi-weekly with Department representatives to ensure reporting remains on track and within budget.

  • Performs need assessments, evaluates and analyzes individual program and overall unit or department effectiveness; implements appropriate procedures to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Leads strategic planning with project team(s) on risk analysis, timelines, high level application implementation milestones, and go-live dates to carry out program goals and objectives. Collaborates with external partners to ensure program and contract deliverables are met.
  • Provides technical advice, policy interpretation, and guidance for application of procedures to staff, students and administrators.

  • Manage project scope, timeline and risk through formal change management processes and other project management responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years’ experience. ( Associates Degree with minimum of 6 years of experience).  Master's degree preferred.

During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
