Responsible for providing direction to the IT program management office (PMO). Accountable for detailing the roadmap and vision of the PMO. Defines and develops IT project/program management best practices, agile project methodologies, governance, processes, and policy to ensure alignment with corporate strategy and goals. Effectively influences and partners with multi-departmental teams to establish foundational relationships. Leads stakeholders in identifying opportunities while developing and prioritizing projects according to relevant measurement criteria. Allocates project management resources based on corporate and IT priorities. Responsible for the supervision of project/program managers to ensure that all projects and programs are delivered within the defined scope, quality, time, and cost requirements. Implements and oversees the capacity planning process across the IT organization. Works with all IT departments to review gaps or resource constraints as projects are planned and/or implemented. Reviews all vendor contracts associated with new projects and implements toll gates to manage vendor resources and deliverables. Directs annual IT planning activities based upon corporate goal-setting. Produces monthly executive dashboards and engages leadership in reviews.
 
Additional responsibilities:
• Defines, implements, and improves project management processes across all Lines of Business and application areas within IT.
• Plans organizational transformations related to migrating business functions to external providers
• Consults on conversion and retirement of core systems.
• Consults with senior management on business process design, re-design and re-engineering.
• Monitors industry for noteworthy changes and for examples of good change management. Shares personal experience in managing external vendors, suppliers, and providers with others.
• Coaches team leaders on issues, problems, and solution methods.
 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, information systems or related field
  • 5+ years managing large projects and programs across multiple locations
  • 2+ years of experience managing direct reports
  • Experience with Agile, Lean and Waterfall SDLCs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Nice to Have:

  • 10+ years of project management experience, including 3+ years managing a PMO
  • Experience leading a PMO through an Agile transformation
  • Possesses both a PMP and Agile (CSM, CSPO, SPC, or equivalent) certification
  • Property and Casualty insurance experience
