Responsibilities

This is a new position to orchestrate the beginning of the FSU Health Data Science Institute (HDSI). The Health Data Science Institute will leverage FSU's strengths in the health and social sciences and break down barriers to interdisciplinary engagement at the Dean, Chair, Faculty, trainee, and staff levels. HDSI will support research and training in areas such as basic life and medical sciences and applied clinical and social sciences, public health, and policy.

Responsibilities will include planning, obtaining approvals, and implementing procedures and policy in order to track health research.

Establish Cyber Structure needed to support current and planned research.

Establishes a comprehensive data management framework for information services, attracting additional researchers, expanding big data management, and providing analytic professional development and education for faculty, research staff, and students.

Accomplishes information technology staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

Maintains organization's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies.

Directs technological research by studying organization goals, strategies, practices, and user projects. Completes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments and data center.

Verifies application results by conducting system audits of technologies implemented. Preserves assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.

Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes, identifying problems, evaluating trends, and anticipating requirements.

Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective action.

Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years experience or high school diploma or equivalent and eight years experience Candidate should have project management experience of at least one year.

Strong communication skills.

Ability to organize and plan focus meetings.

Experience with research, technology, funding, and project building.

Experience with technical management, technical understanding, analyzing information, problem solving, strategic planning, budgets, and quality management.

 

Preferred

Project Management certification or equivalent experience is preferred.

Experience in one or more of Health Data, Information Systems, Research, or Community Building is preferred.

  

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

  

Soft Money Funded Position

This position is time-limited based on soft money funding, with renewal contingent upon available funds and the needs of the University.

 

Schedule

If not otherwise specified, schedule is M-F, 8-5.

  

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
