The Museology Graduate Program at the Graduate School has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Manager to join their team.

The Museology Graduate Program, Program Manager provides leadership and support for the administration and operations of the Museology Graduate Program (Museology). The Museology program is an interdisciplinary program in the Graduate School, and has robust relationships with multiple academic units on campus to support its administration. This position will coordinate with staff in those various units, as well as support Museology Graduate students in collaboration with the Program Director, Program Advisor, and Program Coordinator.

The Program Manager oversees Museologys operations, including general student activities and academic support services. Specifically, the position has responsibility for student recruitment, admissions, program marketing and operations management.

The Museology Graduate Program, Program Manager provides leadership to a complex academic operation which serves a diverse student population. They regularly exercise innovation, flexibility, discretion and independent decision-making in order to lead effectively. The position requires the ability to work in an intense, dynamic, and sometimes stressful environment. The position involves quickly determining priorities while multi-tasking juggling a number of activities at the same time in managing a complex network of external and internal partners.

This position represents the Museology Graduate Program to the UW community as well as the external community. It requires frequent and substantive interactions both within and outside of the University requiring effective professional communication and coordination at many levels. In particular, this position must be able to develop a thorough knowledge of University, PCE, and Graduate School policies as well as specific Museology program administration, curriculum and operational activities. This role is responsible for coordinating with administrative staff of the academic units that host faculty appointments (iSchool, SES, History, Anthropology and School of Art).

The Museology Graduate Program, Program Manager plays a central and crucial role in the success of the program. The PM executes the strategic vision of the Museology Graduate Program and ensures the effective management of our operations in compliance with all UW, State, and Federal regulations and policies. The PM ensures the effective management of the programs internal and external relations related to student information management and integration of internal and external systems in compliance with UW data policies. Furthermore, the PM ensures the effective recruitment, onboarding, and degree completion of a diverse student population. The enrollment and success of a diverse group of students into the Museology Graduate Program enhances the Graduate Schools and the UWs reputation and sustainability of the program.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Museology Graduate Program, Program Manager, under the direction and in support of the Program Director, will be responsible for:

Program operations management (30%)
  • Manage course schedules developed by the Program Director, including scheduling classes, reserving classroom space, and regularly communicating with faculty and students.
  • Manage the program budget developed by the Program Director, including making quarterly reports to the Director, updating the budget in response to quarterly program changes (i.e., student enrollment, staffing), and overseeing the processing of all program expenses.
  • Manage the curriculum submission process for new courses and course changes.
  • Plan and execute program orientation and emersion experiences for students, in collaboration with the Graduate Advisor.
  • Assist the Program Director in assessing strategic program development.
  • Chair the Museology Graduate Programs Equity Team.

    Relationship management (25%)
  • Work with the Program Director and relevant academic units to manage the programs faculty appointment process, preparing appointment letters for faculty per appointing unit guidelines and policies and liaising with HR staff in appointing units as needed.
  • Regularly communicate with guest faculty to coordinate operational support for classes.
  • Serve as the key liaison for the Museology Graduate Program with UW partners including the Graduate School, Registrar, Financial Aid, UW Continuum College, and UW IT.


    Student recruitment, admissions, and services (15%)
  • Lead recruitment and admissions activities for the Museology program in coordination with the Program Director and the Admissions Committee.
  • Oversee student services, including student advising, registration, events, and alumni support.

    Marketing and communications (20%)
  • Develop an annual marketing plan in collaboration with the Program Director.
  • Develop and oversee the creation, writing, editing, and dissemination of promotional material, including social media, print, and other media.
  • Manage the Museology Graduate Programs website, including making regular updates.
  • Regularly communicate with program stakeholders.

    Other duties (10%)
  • Attend academic administrative-related campus presentations, workshops, and trainings as needed and appropriate.
  • Participate in Museology events and activities as needed and appropriate.

    Perform other duties as needed

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Business Administration, Information Management, Museum Studies, or related field.
  • 4 years experience in program management, student counseling, academic administration or equivalent education/experience.

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience in program planning and management, preferably in higher education.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communications, planning and information technology skills.
  • Must be able to work independently, as part of a team, and to lead others.
  • Must be articulate and able to present well in writing, verbally, and via technology.
  • Demonstrated success in working with diverse populations.
  • Experience supervising or leading the work of staff or student staff.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with creating and managing program budgets, preferably in higher education.
  • Familiarity and experience with UW admissions, registration, and electronic student and human resource systems such as MyGrad Program, MyFinancial Desktop and Workday.
  • Experience creating web content, including basic webpage creation skills.
