The Project Manager 1 is responsible for applying expert Program Management knowledge to support NPD, sustaining and productivity designs that have the moderate to high complexity. This role will be heavily involved in advanced development and strategic programs as it pertains to new product development projects. The Project Manager 1 is responsible for managing all aspects from beginning to end of complex projects as assigned applying knowledge of engineering principles and practices in project management to support NPD, sustaining and productivity designs that have moderately high complexity. This role will act as Team Lead to assigned projects, building project team of cross-functional members, conducting meetings, establishing deliverables and accountability, communicating progress and results to all interested parties, and ensuring that all critical elements of the project, from design to commercialization, are on target to meet objectives.

 

Project Manager 1 Experience:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 5 years Project Management experience
  • PMP Certification
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification
  • Willingness to embrace the Chamberlain values and behaviors
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of time
  • Familiarity with general MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
  • Familiarity with agile tools such as Jira, or equivalent

 

Program Manager 1 Responsibilities:

  • Lead a platform of projects coordinated as one overall program ensuring proper execution either directly or indirectly.
  • Act as Team Lead to assigned projects, building project team of cross-functional members, conducting meetings, establishing deliverables and accountability, communicating progress and results to all interested parties, and ensuring that all critical elements of the project, from design to commercialization, are on target to meet objectives.
  • Provides leadership on measures, impact assessment, removal of roadblocks, conflicts, and change of scope decisions.
  • Prepares and delivers executive level communication and/or presentations regarding project reviews, assessments, New Product Reviews, etc. to varying audiences.
  • Provides input into development of, provides leadership for, and supports LOB strategic initiatives.
  • Provides NPD training to all core team personnel world-wide.
  • Provides support to the NPD Continuous Improvement Department in the development, refinement, documentation and deployment, of business processes.
  • Provides support to the NPD Continuous Improvement Department in the training and measurement of business process compliance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provides coaching and development to others on process and project management skills, including Core team, functional project manager, etc.
  • Recommend, use and deploy program management tools to provide control and communication of projects.
  • Builds relationships with and drives strong project management understanding with all levels and functions of the organization.
  • Contribute positively to maintain a workplace culture that is consistent with the Chamberlain mission, vision and values.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Mentor other Project Managers to develop critical skills and best practices.
