The role: 

Join ODOT and support the technical center and project delivery managers with your engineering skills! This will involve tracking project schedules, managing risk, reviewing cost estimates, completing research and providing technical engineering support. Apply today!

A day in the life:

  • Track technical center risks; assess risk probability and document risk characteristics.

  • Maintain a list of products/projects and measure performance of the Tech Center

  • Track project, program and portfolio schedules/schedule risks.

  • Assist developing the necessary tools to perform program and portfolio Management

  • Do quality audits and report performance metrics for in-house and outsourced projects.

  • Create, maintain, and analyze Region 1 historical cost databases (PE, ROW, and Construction) with basis of estimate with corresponding variability/probability, and its corresponding basis of variability to improve cost estimating practice in the region.

  • Conduct lessons learned discussions with project teams to find ways to improve practices.

  • Track the status of design exceptions/deviations and traffic approvals.

  • Gather, investigate, and analyze data to prepare reports and presentations throughout product/project lifecycles.  

  • Identify equipment, software, tools, services and supplies needed by programs.

  • Work mostly in an office environment. May work in the field in physically demanding conditions.

  • Travel and occasional overtime, night or weekend work may be required.

Requirements

What we need:

  • Five years of civil or transportation-related engineering or surveying experience. One year of this experience must have been independently planning and completing assignments.

OR

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying or Transportation-related Engineering and two years of civil or transportation-related engineering or surveying experience.

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
