POSITION SUMMARY:

 

McREL is currently seeking a project management professional with extensive project management experience and skills to work on the Regional Educational Laboratory for the Pacific Region (REL Pacific), which includes the state of Hawaii, American Samoa, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Republic of Palau, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the Federated States of Micronesia.

 

The candidate for this position will perform a variety of tasks under the direction of the senior leadership team, focusing primarily on project management under the REL Pacific contract, including developing formal reports for submission to the Institute of Education Sciences, tracking project performance, and implementing/maintaining quality assurance processes. This will include collaborating with REL Pacific staff and partnership members throughout the process and developing new work that supports the long-term financial stability of McREL.

 

This position requires a PMP certification and periodic international travel as well as occasional domestic travel. We are open to this position working out of our Denver or Honolulu offices. Position responsibilities include:

  1. Manages projects schedules and budget, and ensures all deliverables are on time, within scope and within budget.
  2. Manages changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  3. Prepares and presents consistent and timely reports on project status and progress, including project cost, budget details, and risk containment strategies.
  4. Develops spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs.
  5. Reviews, tracks, documents, and reports outputs, outcomes, and budget expenditures.
  6. Implements or maintains quality assurance processes.
  7. Tracks project performance and is responsible for identifying and preparing project documentation and reporting requirements.
  8. Manages tracking and alignment for the REL team and management and oversight for McREL’s CRM.
  9. Participates in internal or external project reviews.
  10. Collaborates with and provides guidance to McREL staff and teams charged with developing new work that supports the long-term financial stability of McREL. May collect and analyze statistical data on sales trends and lead pipeline projections.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS:

  1. Extensive project management experience and skills, including the ability to maintain and plan a portfolio including planning, budgeting, tracking progress.
  2. Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  3. Strong leadership and management skills, including working with internal and external team members to achieve project goals.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate effectively with staff, clients, and McREL leadership.
  5. Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  6. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and related software.
  7. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PMP certification is required.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least five years of program or project management experience.
  • Proven successful experience managing federally funded contracts is a plus.

 

TRAVEL:

 

Must be willing and able to perform all national and international travel (including overnight and commercial airline travel) that is necessary to accomplish the essential functions of this position. Travel for this position is estimated at up to 20%.
