The Project Manager provides leadership in the management of all activities related to the planning and execution of Norseman projects. This individual will lead the project management processes after lead identification from the Sales Department, through project solution development to construction execution planning.  They will coordinate the efforts of the project team to plan and execute the project on time and on budget while meeting the HSE and quality requirements of the project. This position executes PM1 level complexity projects and PM2 level complexity projects when excess capacity is available.

This individual will work closely with the Superintendent to ensure requirements are planned and executed to enable efficient delivery and construction of Norseman projects. They will have frequent interaction with a variety of internal and external stakeholders at different levels within the organizations.  

Leads project team efforts to initiate and plan the project including:

  • Receives hand-over of project information from Account/Sales Representative
  • Maintains risk registry and develops mitigation strategies with the project team
  • Compiles and engages project team members to verify scope, identify project deliverables and determine project schedule
  • Establishes professional working relationships with key customer contacts
  • Determines project procedures based on specific needs of the customer
  • Establishes project communication plan and conducts regular status reviews with the project team, customer, sub-contractors and vendors
  • Works with key team members to develop the project schedule and baseline budget

Leads efforts to ensure engineering, procurement and manufacturing activities are initiated and monitored:

  • Creates Sales Orders for accessories, foundation, etc.
  • Provides the detailed Scope of Work plus all supporting documents to Engineering and Detailing
  • Reviews engineered and detailed solution for ease of constructability
  • Requests quotes for non-standard product outside of inventoried items
  • Creates a sales order for a PO to be submitted to the appropriate vendors through purchasing

Communicates with customer contact and external stakeholders to ensure project solution meets customer requirements:

  • Requests signoff on the drawings from customer to ensure the layout is accurate
  • Sends structural drawings to our stamping engineer to submit to the customer
  • Requests foundation drawings when required plus calculate from the drawings what is required for components

Monitors and reports on the progress of the project:

  • Create and manage project change orders by working with the project team members and the customer to identify changes to the project scope, assess impacts to cost and schedule and obtaining customer approvals
  • Updates and monitors schedule and budget, identifies variances and trends, and initiates corrective actions
  • Provides project status updates and financial forecasts to customers and Norseman Management as required
  • Approves all financial expenditures for project

Supports the Superintendent to ensure efficient installation at site including:

  • Works with operations and traffic to schedule delivery of product to sites
  • Work with Superintendent to develop a project execution plan which meets all project deliverables identified by the stakeholders
  • Provides support to the Construction Team when they have issues on site

Coordinates efforts of project team to close out project including:

  • Deliveries of final deliverables to the customer
  • Coordinates final invoicing and payment authorizations with Finance Department
  • Ensure all committed costs are resolved
  • Evaluate Construction Team and Subcontractor performance
  • Hold project close-out meeting to gather lessons learned
  • Archives of project files

Participates as an integral member of the team and contributes towards the success of the Company by performing other related duties as required.


10+ years of relevant experience

A degree, diploma or certificate in Project Management and Engineering or a combination of relevant education and experience

Experience in coordinating and managing multi-discipline project execution on industrial sites is an asset

Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow through

Strong leadership and communication skills, including the ability to manage diverse personalities

Professionally and technically competent
