SUMMARY:This position is accountable to manage and coordinate the resources responsible for the development, oversight, and execution of growth-oriented initiatives for American Expediting, including cross-functional initiatives and business process development. This position is responsible for managing all phases of project execution from initiation through completion. The Enterprise Project Manager will be able to move seamlessly through a matrixed organization and provide leadership and influence that ensures all initiative objectives are met.  This position requires an experienced project manager who is committed to the company’s vision for growth to optimize execution and ensure successful initiative outcomes.

REPORTS TO:The position reports directly to Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at American Expediting with a strong dotted line connection(s) to the project initiative owner(s)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop strategies based on best practices, standards and lessons learned to execute the unique characteristics of an Enterprise Project Management Office
  • Select and execute project management methodologies, such as Waterfall, Agile, or Lean, based on the needs of various projects
  • Track assumptions, business case, and execution milestones
  • Manage communication with key stakeholders including the Senior Leader Team and Board
  • Establish steering committee with regular reviews and decision-making processes
  • Document critical decisions and keep records of all aspects of the initiative from start to finish
  • Analyze failures/loss over the course of the project and ensure that lessons learned are captured and included in the project to ensure elimination and best practice integration in future projects
  • Utilize lessons learned from past projects and ensure a chain of learning-maintained project to projects
  • Ensure a collaborative approach within the organization is used during all execution phases
  • Provide insight into talent improvement opportunities and identify gaps for upskilling
  • Support the innovation of businesses processes that can impact results, enhance profitability, and assist the organization to meet its business objectives and goals
  • Improve business processes by eliminating defects and enhancing quality while achieving and maintaining optimal levels of process performance that aligns with business strategy
  • Coordinate the evaluation, design, streamlining and controls of new and existing business processes and provide support to change management
  • Manage process modeling and ensure that roles and responsibilities are documented and articulated to each team member and modified as required, and accomplished
  • Work collaboratively across all departments of the organization to help improve the management of a business processes
  • Engage stakeholders to inspire and empower them to provide input into process changes and support implementation

  • Complex project leadership, operations, and business process development
  • Proven track record of integrating cross functional teams consisting of both internal and external (or 3rd party) resources.
  • Initiates innovative solutions, embracing change and challenging the status quo
  • Proven ability to develop and drive focus and critical factors to attain short and long-term goals and aspirations
  • Demonstrated track record of driving results in difficult situations and implements strategies in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ability to relate up and down the organization and drive critical decision making
  • Extremely effective communicator, ability to clearly articulate program objectives and outcomes at all levels of the organization and drive with simplicity and clarity the key decisions that need to be made

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Able to communicate through all levels of the organization and lead decision making up to and including the Senior Leadership Team
  • Able to analyze risk and clearly articulate both mitigation plans and impact
  • Proven ability to proactively diffuse tense situations and address differences of opinion, priority, culture, and goals
  • Impactful decision-making skills to evaluate options and determine a path forward with limited information
  • Results oriented leader who enables the team to develop and grow while ensuring successful project outcomes.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7-10 years project management experience
  • Credentials in project management, such as the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI)
  • Bachelor of Administration or Science in information management, engineering, or business
