Campfire Labs is a content marketing agency that helps brands like Dropbox, Calendly, and Stripe tell stories that inspire. We’re a mission-driven company that puts people first, and we donate 50% of our profits to climate action.

This opening is for a Project Manager (PM) who will serve as the intermediary between our editorial team and our clients. On a day-to-day basis, this person will be responsible for updating and managing information across multiple content projects, sharing critical feedback with writers, and arranging interviews with subject matter experts. They’ll also have an opportunity to grow Campfire Labs by finding new resources that will help our editorial team improve their work, and by improving the way we organize and manage our many ongoing projects.

This is a full-time, salaried position, and like every other role at Campfire Labs, it is fully remote. It has a starting salary of $60,000 USD. This person will report to our Senior Project Manager and will also work closely with our Editorial Manager, Staff Editor, and our entire writing team (both full-time Staff Writers and freelancers).

The person in this role will:

  • Create, update, and proactively manage all ongoing content projects in our project management system (we use ClickUp) and Google Drive
  • Track which projects each writer and editor is working on, and work with the Senior Project Manager to assign writers and editors to new projects based on their available bandwidth
  • Communicate with clients about the status of projects, answer questions, and build rapport primarily via email
  • Share client feedback with our editorial team
  • Help our editorial team understand which projects should be prioritized, based on due date and other factors
  • Source and schedule interviews between writers and subject matter experts
  • Connect Staff Writers with the resources they need to create robust, inspiring pieces of content
  • Prepare and report updates on projects to our Senior Project Manager
  • Suggest and implement improvements to our tools and systems so our team can continue to do their best work

What we have to offer:

Our team is passionate about telling stories that inspire. But we’re motivated by a larger social mission, and always put people before profits.

We take work-life balance seriously: we want our team to be able to log off, mentally and emotionally, at the end of their day. We’ve also pledged 50% of our profits and equity to projects that fight climate change.

Here’s the full list of benefits included with this (and every) role:

  • Competitive salary
  • 4 weeks (20 days) of paid time off to use in any way you like
  • Quarterly profit sharing bonuses
  • Health and dental benefit reimbursement (up to $300 USD per month)
  • Flexible working hours in a fully remote environment
  • Biannual office closures so you can rest, reset, and spend time with family and friends (1 week each in July and December)
  • Equipment and learning reimbursements
  • Growth and learning opportunities

We're also experimenting with a 32 hour work week and something we call "Quiet Fridays" at least through the end of 2021. Ask us for more details if you're curious!

Requirements

What we’re looking for:

  • Project management skills: Ideally, you have 2+ years of experience managing multiple projects at once. This might look like traditional project management, or it could look more like event management, sales, or even juggling multiple jobs. Either way, you're organized, adaptable, and flexible—and you thrive when you're helping others get the little details they need to do their best work. Experience doing this in an agency environment or for a writing-adjacent role would be nice to have, but isn't required.
  • Clear written communication: Our PM will be doing a lot of writing: on ClickUp, in emails, and in Slack. Your communication should be clear, concise, and easy to understand. You should also be able to explain why you (or a team member) took a specific action tactfully.
  • Default to action: You should be comfortable taking initiative. Folks might use the word "proactive" to describe you: instead of waiting to be told what to do, you work quickly using your best judgement.
  • A level head: Problem-solving is at the core of this role. You should be able to evaluate situations quickly, understand what's most urgent, and act accordingly.
  • Kindness: Our team is built around a shared value of kindness: to each other, to our clients, and to the rest of the world at large. We look for this value in everyone we hire.

Salary Details

$60,000 USD annually plus profit sharing (distributed quarterly).
