 The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District), a leader in protecting Florida's water resources through research and regulation, is seeking a Project Manager in support of the Regulatory Support Bureau. Identification and prioritization of projects is needed for the Regulation Division. Planning, organizing, monitoring, and implementing those projects while also staying within identified budgets, deadlines, and scope of the project is anticipated. This role is responsible for communicating with stakeholders, managing expectations and tracking progress to ensure quality work as well as mentoring others within the section. This position will also work closely with the District's Information Technology Bureau, Regulation Division staff, and vendors.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrate understanding of the organization's mission, goals, and objectives and translate these into the project vision.
  • Understand and apply established policies and procedures, organizational tools, and technical requirements to managing the project.
  • Determine, prioritize, and coordinate appropriate measures to achieve project management goals.
  • Develop or update project plans for projects including information such as project objectives, technologies, systems, information specifications, schedules, materials, funds, staffing, or other resources.
  • Manage project execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope.
  • Control processes and activities in a result-oriented manner to ensure project progress and to achieve the project goals.
  • Prepare project status reports and recommendations by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Direct or coordinate activities of project team personnel.
  • Lead and motivate a team to work towards a common goal and achieve cooperation.
  • Engage in regular communications with project team and stakeholders on project status, problem identification, and generation of solutions.
  • Proactively identify potential project delays that may occur and develop plans to mitigate the risk of those delays.
  • Perform after-action study of project problems (lessons learned), needed changes to procedures, organizational change to support project success, communications, and information flow improvements, resource control, or cost improvements.
  • Document project status or review findings and prepare recommendations for implementation of new systems, procedures, or organizational changes to meet project goals.
  • Participates in agile scrum meetings, as required to stay informed on project status.
  • Work with the District's Communications & Board Services Bureau to establish and execute project communication plans.
  • Work with both Regulation and the District's Information Technology staff to implement an online ePermitting solution using technology software solutions.
  • Ensure deadlines and goals are met for assigned projects.
  • Foster collaborative relationships.







Bachelors or better.



• The successful candidate must obtain one of the following certifications within the first 2 years of hire date: Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), or PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)

3 years: Related work experience


• Experience using agile methodologies to implement IT related software

• Experience in complex IT related projects

• Experience as a project manager or supervisory lead

• Knowledge of Daptiv or other project management tools

Salary Details

Compensation: $49,462.40- $52,769.60

Pay grade 113, minimum to 10% of pay grade displayed. Starting pay will be based upon education and experience.
