Project Manager (Construction, Pallet Racking & Systems)

Brantford, Ontario

This position will report into the PMO office and work directly with the sales team, customers, vendors, and 3rd party sub-trades to manage projects from start to finish.

The ideal candidate for this position must be self-motivated and enthusiastically willing to contribute to a positive workplace, work well with others, and possess excellent time management skills. In the first 18-24 months this position will oversee our plant expansion in Brantford, Ontario. Once completed the position will transition into our Racking & Systems group managing the mechanical installation within the GTA area.

Initial, 18-24 months – Plant Expansion

Working with the General Contractor


  • Provide on-site project management from initiation to completion
  • Plan all phases of the construction lifecycle
  • Support all permits requests
  • Ensure project is aligned with agreed-upon plans
  • Communicate with all stakeholders to deliver project progress reports
  • Adherence to the budget, timeline, and quality control plan
  • Collaborates with the GC’s project manager, coordinator, safety manager, engineers, and sub-trades
  • Manage the plant equipment relocation and ensure plant layout plans are also implemented


Post, Plant Expansion – Pallet Racking & Warehouse Systems

  • Responsible for the planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring of all Pallet Racking and Warehouse Systems install activities on our projects
  • May work on multiple projects simultaneously or may concentrate on single (larger) projects
  • Accountable for maintaining project timelines and ensuring proper correspondents to all stakeholders
  • Responsible for the management of on-site 3rd party subtrades


Pre-install / Startup: Responsible for the job planning, initial scheduling, permit submittal process, and coordination of the project startup:

  • Review preinstalls check list and participate in Sales handoffs and pre-project meetings
  • Review change order processes with all stakeholders (including Customer)
  • Participate in “Best Practices” reviews
  • Participate in the development of the initial install schedule

Installation: It is the job of the Project Manager to supervise whether the team members are working efficiently. Having the ability to motivate and influence both the internal and external team to put in all their efforts to accomplish the given tasks safely and successfully:

  • Coordinate sub-trades, suppliers, labor, and equipment.
  • Maintain a current project schedule including drawings
  • Prepare listing of the required project submittals into the customer
  • Prepare any change orders and track costs related to the install
  • Conduct weekly project Owner, Contractor and Subtrade meetings

Install Closeout: Assist in successfully closing out a project in a timely, efficient manner to the satisfaction of the Customer:

  • In collaboration with the customer and sales team, prepare punch lists and monitor completion of all list items
  • Assist with closeout procedures, final sign offs
  • Ensure certificates of completion are obtained and ensure the closing out of all permits.


Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Post graduate training in project management preferred and/or working towards a Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) Certification
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a cross-functional project management role with direct Industry - Specific Experience (Installation/Teardown of Pallet Racking & Warehouse Systems)
  • Strong knowledge of shelving and racking solutions:
    • Knowledge of proper installation techniques
    • Understanding of AutoCAD and Drawings
    • Permitting
  • Delegation skills/Time management / Multi-tasking ability
  • Experienced in managing full project life cycle
  • Process driven with the flexibility to engage challenges with creative thinking
  • Able to adapt to various situations prioritizing multiple work assignments
  • Good judgment, initiative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • Great work ethic with an exceptional sense of urgency
  • Strong demonstrated sense of customer service
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Attention to detail and organized
  • Strong team leader
