Oregon State University is seeking a Project Manager who will be actively engaged in several strategic initiatives, including projects that support business process, information technology and teaching/research activities. As a member of the Project Manager Pool reporting to the DFA PPMO Director, the Project Manager (PM) works within the Project Portfolio Management Office’s (PPMO) guidance to plan, implement, and monitor complex, enterprise-wide projects and initiatives for OSU. The PM leads development and implementation of complex projects to solve problems that may have wide impact, requiring high levels of functional integration and involving multiple disciplines to be managed. The PM may manage numerous IT, business and research/teaching projects simultaneously with an emphasis on IT project management. The PM is responsible for designing, planning, implementing, managing, and measuring / tracking success for one or more strategic, complex projects often involving multiple functions, and/or information technologies that serve to enable a variety of business strategies and goals, which can span across the entire University or major portions of it. The strategies and implementations of each project will adhere to PPMO standards and processes.

Working closely with business analysts, the successful candidate will have a working knowledge of business, information technology, and academic functions consisting of an understanding of data, business processes, applications, networks, systems and infrastructure, and will leverage this knowledge to effectively support various projects within the scope of business, IT and research/teaching projects within the university. The PM is expected to deliver within approved budgets and schedules while maintaining the highest quality standards. The PM will plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict PMO processes, deadlines, and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• One and one-half years experience leading project(s) (IT or otherwise).
• Two or more years participating in IT-related project management.
• Ability to earn Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from Project Management Institute (PMI) within 18 months of hire.
• Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
• Highly adaptive. Can conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.
• Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.
• Ability to bring project to successful completion with political sensitivity and tenacity.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
• A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
