Organization Description:
The Parks Conservancy is the nonprofit support partner to six of the Bay Area’s open space management agencies, including the National Park Service and the Presidio Trust. The mission of the Conservancy is to preserve the 80,000 acres of the Golden Gate National Parks, enhance the park visitor experience, and build a community dedicated to conserving the parks for the future. The Facilities Team is responsible for maintaining the Conservancy’s portfolio of buildings within San Francisco and Marin counties. The Parks Conservancy operates out of 3 types of facilities - revenue generating, program services and administrative.
Position Overview:
The Project Manager manages all aspects of the planning and implementation of mid to large size facilities and operations projects, with a focus on utilities, facilities, and technology infrastructure and improvements. The position works in partnership with the Conservancy and its park partners. The Project Manager will manage multiple projects simultaneously.
This position reports directly to Director of Facilities and Fleet.
Project Management
- Manages all aspects of mid to large-size operations and maintenance projects in support of Parks Conservancy to include project scoping; compliance and permitting; project design; schedule and budget development and tracking; implementation; and monitoring and reporting.
- Works in partnership with members of the Operations branch to prioritize and budget for annual, replacement, and emergency projects.
- Facilitates cross functional project teams; tracks all tasks and ensures complete and clear understanding of team roles and responsibilities.
- Plans and leads pre-project assessment in collaboration with impacted branches to determine scope, budget, timeframe, and impacts.
- Plans and leads regular check-in meetings with impacted Conservancy teams to ensure project meets branch needs
- Sources, contracts, and coordinates with outside designers, fixture manufacturers, and media developers in collaboration with Conservancy leads to ensure goals, budgets, and timeframes are met.
- Conducts oversight of contractor work and is responsible for assuring work meets standards, with a particular focus on historic preservation and environmental protection requirements. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal ordinances, permitting, and best practices.
- Develop implementation plan for projects, to include project delivery method.
- Work in partnership with Parks Conservancy departments to ensure project scope and schedules are well understood, and clearly communicated to park partners and park users. Facilitates communication with management team and other NPS/Conservancy representatives to ensure that all objectives of each project are being met with minimal interruptions to business operations.
- Ensure proper project completion and close out, to include coordination of site visits and technical oversight by 3rd party and NPS; documentation with partner organizations as required; and final reporting.
- Monitor project performance during warranty/post-project period to ensure all elements perform to established standards, adaptively manage if required.
- Plans and manages all projects in partnership with agency partners. Collaborates closely with agency counterparts. Ensures projects follow partner protocols.

Requirements

- Capable of independently managing a wide array of projects, simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions; capable of independent decision making.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and facilities meetings and project teams.
- Demonstrated ability to be a creative problem solver; capable of working within an interdisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills, to include oral, technical writing, and graphic communication.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Current driver’s license, clean driving record.
- Capable of independently managing projects of a mid to large-size in terms of budget and/or complexity.
- Demonstrated ability to perform management tasks, including schedule and budget tracking, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to be a creative problem solver; capable of working within a cross functional team.
- Familiar with the basic principles and practices of project management.
- Experience reviewing and reading construction drawings, specifications, and compliance documents.
- High degree of initiative; patient, persistent and willing to overcome obstacles; maintains focus on achieving overall goals.
Computer Skills: Experience with project management / project design software and tools.

Physical Requirements and Work Environments:
- Work is performed both indoor office setting and in the field.
- Work is primarily performed sitting, standing, and walking.
