The Larimer County Information Technology Department is looking for a Project Manager to join our Project Management Office (PMO). We are looking for an individual wanting to grow their project management skills and experience. The ideal candidate must be self-driven, contain excellent communication skills, and have the ability lead projects through facilitation and coordination. This position will also act as ScrumMaster for agile projects and will have the ability to gain knowledge and skills on utilizing agile frameworks in managing projects. A Project Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of planning and execution of IT projects through the entire project life cycle, including the coordination and integration of activities, resources, scopes, schedules, and budgets of each assigned project. This position directly manages a broad spectrum of projects and works closely with stakeholders, internal customers, and external vendors. A Project Manager must be familiar with project management methodologies such as waterfall, agile, and hybrid. 


The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience with routine software and business application including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases. 
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Read and comprehend department and County rules, regulations, policies and standard operating procedures. 
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community. 
  • Have regular, predictable attendance. 
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of project management methodologies, principles, practices, techniques, and tools and the ability to employ that knowledge. 
  • Have basic understanding of contracting, pertinent Federal, State, and County laws and regulations as they relate to Larimer County. 
  • Develop, analyze, and interpret complex technical documents including project requirements, work breakdown structures, design documentation, PERT charts, GANTT charts, project timelines, project schedules, and other related documentation. 
  • Communicate in a clear, concise, and straightforward manner with project sponsors, project staff, Department/Division staff, and other County personnel. 
  • Manage multiple projects and resources across several business groups. 
  • Work effectively both independently and in a project team environment. 
  • Create and enhance a positive team environment for clients and project teams. 
  • Perform facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution. 
  • Have experience utilizing agile tools such as Atlassian (Jira and Confluence).



All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in information systems, technology, or a directly related field required.
  • One (1) year project management experience required.
  • Basic practical knowledge of the Project Management Institute Project Management Body of Knowledge required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, or a closely related field required.
