You’re an experienced project manager with experience managing projects in a healthcare setting. A strong and thoughtful leader, you excel at building collaborative relationships and supporting teams to deliver results. You understand the needs of maintaining health care services through facility upgrade projects, and work in partnership to integrate clinical requirements into work plans. You also possess good business acumen, and have the ability to monitor budgets and execute project plans with stringent timelines.

What you’ll do

 

The Project Manager I reports to the Director Shared Services with BCMHSUS. The Project Manager I works within a complex multi-site environment and within the context of the long-range strategic plans for BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services. This role is focused on being part of a team responsible for capital facility upgrade projects across our many sites, including the forensic psychiatric hospital, correctional health, Red Fish Centre, Heartwood and many other leased sites. This role assists with capital planning work; and holds strategic relationships with IMITs, facilities management, BC Housing, and Health Emergency Management BC.

High-level accountabilities include:

  • Maintain detailed project charter, plans and objectives, monitor and report on deliverables. Executes project plan according to project methodologies, ensures successful and coordinated completion of project components, consults with stakeholders as needed and ensures readiness for project implementation
  • Track project progress according to project plan and identified metrics. Monitor and report on the status of projects and major barriers encountered. Makes recommendations to Director regarding projects scope and related changes required to facilitate a successful outcome.
  • Plan and implement required processes and action plans in support of the efficient and effective planning for the site facilities.
  • Participate in the development and monitoring of project budgets within the context of operations demands and environmental and resource constraints and uses best practice methods to thoroughly monitor and adhere to allocated budgets.
  • Provide leadership by giving advice or guidance in situations that require interpretation and judgment
  • Monitor contractor service expenditures
  • Work with senior corporate and contractor representatives to ensure that excellent customer service is being provided and to resolve issues that may arise.
  • Liaise with Senior Operations Leaders to ensure their facility needs are being met
  • Assist with phases in the facility redevelopment processes.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant health care discipline such as project management, Administration, Business Administration or health related field, or an equivalent level of education, training and experience
  • Minimum of five (5) year’s recent, related experience in project management and facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of stakeholder groups. Project Management Professional designation considered an asset.

  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to facilitate, negotiate and persuade others.
  • Excellent organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and dispute resolution skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with agency and corporate managers, contractor representatives, and senior management.
  • Demonstrated skill to work with a high degree of independence.
