Our Project Delivery Office has a regular full-time opportunity for a Project Manager. The Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating, facilitating, obtaining, directing, delivering and reviewing professional civil engineering, infrastructure planning and financial strategizing work for the development, analysis, investigation, construction, and maintenance of complex engineering infrastructure and natural asset projects, such as culverts, debris basins, bridges, roads, bike lanes, sidewalks, or sewer projects, such as the Lynn Valley Trunk Sewer project. This includes overseeing project delivery strategies and processes, including the initial planning, conceptual designs, financial planning, functional designs, delivering projects on time and budget, supervising staff and consultants/contractors, and developing long term strategic capital investment plans in tandem with internal and external stakeholders, as well as senior government agencies, that is consistent with Council’s vision of the community.

You are a proven communicator and coordinator with strong time management skills and the ability to manage sensitive, contentious and complex issues and contracts involving multiple and diverse stakeholders. You value, apply and promote a consistent project management framework and fully understand the financial plans, business cases and project budget strategies required to ensure project delivery success. You understand the importance of risk management and project documentation to project success. You are aware of the impacts of climate change on infrastructure and understand the benefits of sustainable service delivery. Your past projects indicate that you have a demonstrated ability to develop and build positive relationships and networks with industry and government officials that are imperative to the success of your projects. A good understanding of MMCD documents and the associated role of the Contract Administrator would be a definite asset.

You should possess a professional engineering degree, Engineer-in-Training designation, or a degree in a field related to Project Management and this should be combined with a minimum of 3 years of project management experience in civil construction. Alternatively, you should possess a similarly related technical diploma and 5 years of related experience. Civil construction field experience and knowledge of a Project Management Framework are definite assets. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Ability to work cooperatively and multi-task in a fast-paced, result-oriented environment is critical.
