Overview

The Princeton School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) seeks an experienced Project Manager for a two-year term who will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Violence and Inequality Project. The Violence and Inequality Project is a multidisciplinary research project based at Princeton University that brings together a network of researchers at seven universities to develop a research infrastructure to answer two questions: Why does violence rise or fall within neighborhoods or cities? What can be done to reduce violence while also reducing inequality?



Responsibilities

The Project Manager is a two-year position that will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Violence and Inequality Project. The specific responsibilities, which are not exhaustive, are as follows:
  • Track status of various aspects of the research and facilitate communication between network members, organization of all files, and progress toward the project milestones and deliverables;
  • Provide detailed accounting and forecasts of budget and expenditures; communicate with Princeton representatives and funders; provide detailed reporting to funders;
  • Provide all communication with members of the advisory board and partners in multiple cities;
  • Lead fundraising efforts for the project;
  • Manage and supervise graduate student research assistants and all project staff, providing feedback and guidance;
  • Respond to queries from project staff and network members;
  • Supervise workflow and assign tasks to staff members and network members; track progress of workflow and provide updates to PI;
  • Manage all hiring, interviewing, recruitment;
  • Plan and coordinate all meetings and site visits;
  • Coordinate all data agreements and Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications;
  • Organize and manage all data developed as part of the project;
  • Schedule monthly meetings and take minutes;
  • Assist with organizational and administrative assistance to PI;
  • Assist with scheduling, travel arrangements for PI and network members when needed;
  • Assist with all expenses and reimbursements;
  • Manage space requirements and usage;
  • Assist with writing, copyediting, formatting, fact-checking, and publication of all documents produced over the course of the project;
  • Provide research assistance to PI and other network members when needed;
  • Work with developers and programmer on the project website and data repository;
  • Manage all grant reporting in collaboration with Princeton's Office of Population Research.



Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years of previous relevant experience managing complex research project or similar organizational projects or initiatives
  • Demonstrated previous experience in communications with policy makers and local organizations
  • Strong organization and administrative skills and abilities
  • Clear and efficient communication
  • Strong writing skills, proofreading and editing experience
  • Computer skills: Word, PPT, Excel
  • Demonstrated experience managing academic grants, budgets
  • Experience supervising and managing project staff

Preferred:

  • Masters degree or equivalent in relevant field
  • Demonstrated experience with academic writing
  • Demonstrated experience with statistical analysis and coding in R or Stata
  • Remote work will be considered but proximity to Princeton and ability to meet in person on an occasional basis is strongly preferred
