Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, and working in close collaboration with the Director of Semester Conversion, the Semester Conversion Project Manager plays a key role in the successful planning, implementation, and tracking of the university-wide multi-year campus semester conversion project activities. The Project Manager develops and oversees project and change plans through the full lifecycle of the project for non-academic university divisions; and ensures alignment with the division of academic affairs and other academic support divisions project timelines, milestones, and implementation steps. The project manager works with assigned staff, vendors, and consultants, provides updates and consults with project sponsors and key leaders, and is responsible for the successful completion and adoption of the project.

This position will be temporary full-time through December 31, 2026, and is eligible for full benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and CalPERS retirement.

Division Summary

The Office of the Provost provides guidance and support for faculty and staff in all six academic colleges, and for several offices that support students throughout their time at Cal Poly, including University Advising, the Robert E. Key Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of managing, developing and administering large, complex projects including developing and managing project staff, budgets, work and risk plans, and timeline to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals
  • Knowledge of change management best practices and approaches, including preparing for change, communication strategies, leader engagement, and managing resistance
  • Exceptionally skilled at developing and delivering multi-modal communications clearly and concisely to all levels of an organization
  • Highly skilled at making sense of complex, voluminous, and occasionally contradictory information to effectively solve problems
  • Skilled at building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives

Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in management information systems, computer science, business administration or a related field, and six (6) years of progressive experience in project and change management
