The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Project Manager or a Senior Project Manager within the Planning and Construction Services division of the Facilities Services Department. Planning and Construction Services is comprised of two units; design and construction. This recruitment seeks to fill an opening in the construction unit. This position reports to the Director of Construction Services.
Project Manager
The Project Manager is responsible for managing multiple construction, repair, and renovation projects of moderate design and construction complexity, volume, budget and timelines.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: manage vendor, consultant and contractor procurement processes; manage contracts and contract negotiations; provide documentation for contracts; manage out-sourced architectural and engineering consultants; work with project constituents to develop scope of work; conduct project meetings; plan and execute project related utility, service and operational interruptions; visit sites; ensure contract compliance; provide input regarding project management software programs; close out projects upon completion; participate in the development of campus-wide strategic project planning; interpret and enforce building codes and standards; and other duties as assigned.
Senior Project Manager
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the development and management of multiple construction, repair, and renovation projects of high design and construction complexity, volume, budget and timelines.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: manage vendor, consultant and contractor procurement processes; manage contracts and contract negotiations; provide documentation for contracts; manage out-sourced architectural and engineering consultants; participate in the development of campus-wide and project strategic planning; conduct project meetings with senior department leadership and make key decisions to ensure project goals, including scope, cost and schedule are achieved; plan and execute project related utility, service and operational interruptions; visit sites; ensure contract compliance; serve as a subject matter resource in the interpretation and practical implementation of construction and design standards; represent the Facilities Services Department while interacting with outside agencies, utility providers and community groups; interface with building officials and authorities having jurisdiction; and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Project Manager
Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of related work experience; OR
Master’s Degree and two (2) years of related work experience
Related Experience: Progressively responsible experience as a project manager for increasingly complex projects typically requiring coordination of multiple trades and engineering specialties, mid-range timelines, and increased finances or related.
Senior Project Manager
Bachelor’s Degree and five (5) years of related work experience; OR
Master’s Degree and three (3) years of related work experience
Related Experience: Progressively responsible experience as a project manager for complex design/construction projects requiring coordination of all trades and engineering specialties, lengthy timelines, high finances, and high risk or related. Additionally, some experience in a project leadership role such as a project lead, supervisor, or in a similar project charge capacity is required.
Required Licensure
Project Manager
A valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required within 30 days of appointment.
Senior Project Manager
A valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required within 30 days of appointment.

Note: Professional licensure issued by a jurisdiction other than the State of Nevada is acceptable at the time of appointment, but Nevada licensure must be obtained within six months of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with experience coordinating and managing construction projects in the role of an owners’ representative, projects utilizing the construction-manager-at-risk (CMAR) delivery method and projects that included an abatement and/or hazardous material remediation scope of work, are encouraged to apply.
Schedule and Travel Requirements
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Occasional evenings and weekends required in support of the operational schedule.
May require travel on a limited basis.
This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours.
