Job Description

The Office of Business and Finance is seeking a Project Manager Sr. (HCM Project) to support ASU’s implementation of a new human capital management system. The Project Manager Sr. (HCM Project) will support the functional teams designing and implementing the new HCM system, and will plan, direct, organize, and execute against project requirements, ensuring timely delivery of project outcomes. Under administrative direction of the Office of Business and Finance and in conjunction with an external consultant, the Project Manager Sr. (HCM Project) will oversee the completion of deliverables and milestones of the functional team and partner closely with the Technical and OCM Project Managers. Following completion of the HCM implementation project, the Project Manager Sr. (HCM Project) will be transitioned to support other departmental projects and needs.

Salary Range

$75,000 - $90,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

  • Works closely with project leadership, project stakeholders, functional team, support team and technology team to manage project progress, track action items and ensure coordination.
  • Works closely with system integrator PM team to identify key project deliverable timeframes, develop roadmap, and ensure functional teams are well-equipped to complete tasks in accordance with planned roadmap.
  • Works cohesively within project’s Project Management team, consisting of both internal and external project managers, to ensure coordinated efforts to appropriately lead project team.
  • Understands functional team requirements and helps translate them into project deliverables and milestones; tracks these deliverables alongside functional team and in coordination with overall project plan.
  • Plans, develops, implements, and manages a project team through complete task definitions and work requirement identification and assignments.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders to define project scope, strategy, budget, and outcomes; identifies critical resource expertise and targets appropriate internal and/or external sources to ensure optimal outcome(s). 
  • Establishes and continually monitors/manages project expectations with team; assigns tasks and identifies issues for resolution to ensure optimal team effectiveness.
  • Prepares and maintains all project status reports and schedules; tracks milestones/deliverables, critical paths and dependencies; re-sets expectations as needed in consideration of project progress/outcomes. 
  • Responds to all inquiries regarding project status; prepares and responds to all regulatory reporting/filings to ensure compliance.
  • Coaches and supervises all project team members both internal and contracted to ensure optimal outcomes; builds, develops, and maintains relationships vital to project success. 

 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years related experience; 3 of which include project management, OR, any equivalent combination of experience, and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in providing project management support for sophisticated ERP systems, including human capital management systems.
  • Experience working with ASU departmental HR functions including payroll, benefits, recruiting, talent management, and other HR operations.
  • Evidence of professional certifications and/or memberships related to project management and/or human resources.
  • Experience using standard project management practices in complex projects with competing resources and stakeholders.
  • Experience working with human capital management systems such as Oracle or Workday.
  • Experience in fostering a team oriented work environment. 
  • Experience developing strategies and technical specifications for projects, ability to manage complex technology projects. 
  • Ability to clarify roles and responsibilities to ensure understanding of expectations; takes action to mitigate conflict.
  • Experience in working in a fast-paced continually changing and deadline driven environment while maintaining multiple priorities. 

 

Working Environment

  • The HCM innovation project team’s primary worksite, will be in an in person co-located workspace. Flexible work arrangements will be available as referenced in ASU Policy SPP 306.
  • Work in an office setting and use office equipment (i.e. computers, printers, copiers, calculators, telephones).
  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time, travel moderate distances to perform work.
  • Communicate to perform essential duties.
  • Read-interpret written and oral instructions/directions.
  • May require lifting of items weighing up to 25 lbs.
