York University Markham Centre Campus (MCC) will consolidate, York's already strong academic presence in Markham Centre with a 10 storey's high and a total building GFA of 37,160 m² that will initially support 4,200 students with room for student growth. MCC will be urban, connected and integrated with local and global communities. Programs will revolve around core themes of technology and entrepreneurship, as applied in different contexts and professional fields. Students will acquire knowledge and skills to contribute to a rapidly changing economy and society through innovative programs where they interact directly with employers and community partners. The Campus will specialize in flexible learning formats to serve a diverse population of students, including young adults, as well as mature and mid-career learners, newcomers to Canada and workers impacted by technological change. The Project Planning & Implementation Manager, Markham Centre Campus (PPIM) will assist with planning and implementing systems, processes, and activities for the new Campus. The position is accountable for managing and supporting the development and coordination of all administrative aspects of the new Campus. The successful incumbent is familiar with the higher education environment, is comfortable leading change, and in coordinating large-scale, multi-stakeholder projects. The successful incumbent is an excellent communicator that values a consultative approach to project management, working collaboratively with stakeholders across the University.


To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:

University degree in business administration or related field. MBA or equivalent education and/or experience would be an asset.
Project Management Professional (PMP) designation required.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification considered an asset.
At least three (3) years of related experience, and experience working with stakeholders at various levels of an organization. Familiarity with a University environment an asset.
Experience successfully managing multiple service implementation projects including project planning, timelines, milestones, issues/risks/dependencies.
Experience with business transformation (process redesign and organizational change)
Experience leading value stream mapping and other process improvement sessions and facilitating working and user groups.
Experience supporting multi-function project teams with at least 10-15 team members including academic and administrative leaders.
Experience delivering management-level presentations, training and/or end user support
Balanced business/technical background: o Sufficient level of technical background to provide highly credible leadership to development teams and to be able to evaluate complex project risks and issues accurately and objectively.
Experience working in a unionized environment.
Experience with human design thinking and other innovation organizational design frameworks would be an asset.
